A hit Xbox Game Pass adventure game is coming to Nintendo Switch and PS5

Foxy Zelda-esque tunic is coming to Nintendo and PlayStation platforms in September, after hitting Xbox consoles and PC earlier this year.

Tunic, an adventure RPG that riffs on old-school Zelda titles, made quite the impression when it launched on Xbox Series X|S and PC in March. It makes the jump to Nintendo Switch, PS5, and PS4 on September 27.

The news was announced during the latest Nintendo Direct presentation in a new trailer. Check it out below to get a sense of the whole Tunic vibe.

cunning look

Tunic drops you on a colorful labyrinthine island and lets you explore the different locations of its magical world, battling strange creatures and diving into dungeons. You gradually discover its secrets and decipher the fictional language of a faux manual to learn new skills.

The game is also something of an Xbox Game Pass success story. Tunic came out on Microsoft’s subscription service on the day of its release, making it immediately available to millions of players who might otherwise never have taken a chance on the adorable adventure RPG. Even designer Andrew Shouldice was impressed by the immediate audience that found it.

“Game Pass is an incredible deal,” Shouldice told True Performance (opens in new tab). “10 million people, or 20 million people, have Game Pass – something like that. It’s ridiculous, isn’t it? And so the idea that ‘Oh yeah, that whole audience can play your game now’… I just can’t even fathom it .’

Tunic should look good on Nintendo’s handheld system, with its pastel-colored visuals matching the family-friendly aesthetic of Nintendo heavyweights. We also think it’s one of the best Steam Deck games available right now, so it should translate well to an on-the-go platform.
