A four-month-old baby boy is in a coma after his Italian grandmother used wine to dilute his milk powder.
The baby is in an ethyl coma after his grandmother accidentally used wine to prepare his milk, mistaking the wine bottle for the dark-colored glass water bottle, according to local media reports.
The grandmother, from Francavilla Fontana in the southern Italian province of Brindisi, reportedly bottle-fed the baby around noon on Monday. He drank a little of the mixture of milk powder and wine before rejecting the bottle.
She realized her mistake after smelling the bottle and rushed her grandson to the nearby Perrino Hospital, where he received emergency treatment.
The little boy’s stomach was pumped before he was intubated and transferred to the intensive care unit of the Giovanni Children’s Hospital in Bari yesterday.

His condition is said to be stable and improving. According to local media, his life is not in danger.
