A four-bedroom home in affluent Surrey, once home to a US president, can be yours for £2.35 million.

In his 1952 memoir, he explained that his “wife searched a small country house in Walton-on-Thames.”
He may well have had political ambitions at the time he found the property, adding that it was “strangely known as The White House.”

He was a self-made man who got rich as a mining engineer before entering politics.
He stayed at the Walton-on-Thames estate for only a short time in 1902, although his wife reportedly stayed a little longer – though she eventually went to central London.

However, this blue plaque is not installed by the English Heritage London blue plaque scheme as it is located outside the capital.
