A protester tried her best to steal the show during the Buffalo Bills’ obliteration of the Los Angeles Rams in the NFL season opener Thursday night.

Around halfway through the fourth quarter a woman ran onto the field with a pink flare, causing the game to be stopped for several minutes.

The fan was tackled by security at the 30 yard line as she neared the Bills defense. Upon being tackled the fan dropped the flare, which Buffalo safety Micah Hyde then picked up and threw as far off the field as possible.

The fan’s shirt read in bright black letters ‘righttoresecue.com’. The website brings visitors to a petition that states it wishes to help provide immediate action to rectify the abuses of the factory farming industry around the world, and protect whistleblowers who expose this misconduct and help the suffering animals.

The bright pink smoke from the flare led to some on social media, including ESPN’s Emmanuel Acho, to question if the field invasion was in fact part of a gender reveal.

‘Ummm we just had a streaker or a gender reveal on the field!,’ Acho captioned the incident in a video he posted to Twitter.

Security guards chased down the fan who ran onto the field, as Bills players looked on nearby

Though it doesn’t appear to have been a gender reveal, and thankfully wasn’t a streaker, the brightly colored smoke was, however, one of the lone bright spots for Los Angeles.

The Rams were defeated 31-10 in what was perhaps the worst opening performance by a defending Super Bowl champion in recent memory.

LA’s defense may want to consider taking some tackling lessons from the security team – and on Thursday night they looked as defeated as the pitch invader when she was dragged off the field.
