A dented bonnet, mystery witnesses and a perfectly positioned CCTV camera: The unanswered questions about the night Olympic cyclist Melissa Hoskins lost her life – as her husband Rohan Dennis faces charges over her death

Olympic gold medalist Rohan Dennis is out on bail and his police file is secret, but until he appears in court over his wife's death, many questions about the tragic case will remain unanswered.

Melissa Hoskins died in hospital last Saturday evening from catastrophic injuries sustained after her husband's VW Amarok ute collided with her on the street near the couple's $2.45 million home.

Her death has shaken the families of the golden cycling couple, the sport's international community and the wealthy neighborhood they call home.

Townhouses line the streets of Medindie in Adelaide's northern suburbs, where the couple lived with their two young children.

Few knew the family, who had only just moved in, but one resident had cameras perfectly positioned to capture the tragic incident.

The neighbor gave police a copy of the footage and the crash investigators' yellow arrows are still painted on the road outside the house.

After leaving the house where he had just celebrated his last Christmas with his wife, Rohan returned home with his children on Wednesday.

He has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, careless driving and endangering life. He will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on March 13.

It is believed he has not yet entered any pleas.

These are some of the many questions surrounding the case:

Rohan's $70,000 dark gray Volkswagen Amarok 4WD car, which has now been seized by police, was found to have suffered damage to the bonnet in the aftermath of the incident.

One report said Melissa may have jumped on the hood after trying to grab the driver's side door, which may have been locked or she couldn't open it.

It is speculated that she tried to stop the car's progress while it was still on the street near their home.

Two neighborhood witnesses, possibly teenagers, saw the tragedy unfold and reportedly tried to help Melissa by resuscitating her at the scene before an ambulance arrived.

Apart from Rohan, they are believed to have been the only people on the ground in the immediate aftermath of the crash and may have spoken to Melissa if she was conscious.

WHO CALLED TRIPLE-0?

While Rohan cooperated with South Australian police in the aftermath of the crash and was taken to a police station where he was interrogated and charged, it is unclear who called Triple-0 at the scene and whether the recording of that call was critical will be. evidence in the case.

What is on the neighbor's camera images?

The resident of a large house on the corner next to where Melissa was struck had a CCTV camera perfectly positioned to capture what happened.

The resident is said to have handed over a copy of his hard drive to the police in the aftermath of the incident. The images will be the most important evidence.

WHAT INJURIES HAS MELISSA HOSKINS SUFFERED FROM?

She was taken to hospital but died shortly afterwards from what were described as 'catastrophic' injuries.

WHAT DID ROHAN TELL THE POLICE AND WHAT ARE HIS BAIL CONDITIONS?

Rohan is said to have made a statement to the police after the incident, in which he explains what happened that night.

Police will not make public his list of bail conditions, but it is believed one is not to drive a vehicle, and another is not to leave Australia.

WHAT FURTHER INVESTIGATIONS IS THE POLICE CONDUCTING INTO THE CASE?

Police continue to investigate the case and question possible witnesses, including neighbors, as well as friends and relatives of both Melissa and Rohan about their relationship and family life.
