NEW YORK — Five people were killed Monday morning when the car they were in crashed on a New York City freeway, police said.
The Mazda was traveling northbound on Cross Island Parkway in the borough of Queens when it collided with another vehicle just before 6 a.m. The five people in the car were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash near the Whitestone Bridge, according to New York police. .
Photos from the scene show the car ended up on the roadway.
The driver of the other car was taken to hospital in stable condition.
Police could not immediately identify the five people killed.
The investigation into the crash continued.
