A Country Practice star Brian Wenzel dies weeks before 95th birthday
Iconic Australian actor Brian Wenzel has died at the age of 94.
He passed away peacefully in an Adelaide nursing home, leaving behind a legacy that spans more than seven decades in the entertainment industry.
He would be 95 on May 24 and died in a nursing home in Adelaide.
Brian’s wife of almost 70 years, Linda, confirmed the sad news of his passing.
“Brian’s wife, Linda, who is almost 70 years old, called this morning to deliver the news of his death and said he died peacefully,” Woman’s Day reported.

Wenzel became a household name in Australia for his portrayal of the upstanding Sergeant Frank Gilroy in A Country Practice, a series that captured the hearts of viewers from 1981 to 1993.
His outstanding performance earned him a TV Week Silver Logie for Best Actor, cementing his status as one of the country’s most respected television actors.
Wenzel began his acting career at the tender age of 17 and first graced the stage in a comedy show, laying the foundation for a distinguished career in which he regularly played the roles of criminals, outlaws and thugs in the 1960s and 1970s. hit series such as Homicide, Division 4 and Matlock Police.
Despite his on-screen personas, off-screen Wenzel was known for his warmth and joviality.
“He had a great career, was one of the nicest people, loved his fans and appreciated being so loved,” says a colleague, Craig, reflecting on Brian’s personal and professional life.
Brian’s later years were marked by his battle with dementia, which led him to enter nursing care in September 2022, as shared by his wife Linda.
