Neymar decided a bold new look was in order as he continues to recover from a torn ACL that ended his season prematurely.

The £130million-a-year star is back in Brazil to recover from his season-ending injury suffered while playing for the national team, and it appears he has picked up the clippers for his mane of hair.

On his Instagram story, Neymar showed off a shaved new look, one that divided his loyal followers.

With his beard shaved – except for his mustache – and his head cropped almost to the scalp, Neymar gave a thumbs up with the caption: “New look!”

“Neymar please delete the story and your mustache,” one fan wrote in response.

A second said: ‘I just came across Neymar’s new look… look at the moustache…’

What the future holds for Neymar as he tries to recover from his serious injury remains to be seen.

The Brazilian star completed a £78m move to Saudi Arabia from PSG in August, signing a two-year contract worth £130m per season.

However, last month he suffered a serious knee injury while playing for Brazil in the 2-0 defeat to Uruguay in World Cup qualifying.

Subsequent tests revealed that Neymar had torn his anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus in his left knee, meaning the Brazilian would miss the remainder of the season and face a race against time to recover ahead of the Copa America in the United States next summer.

And now according to Saudi Arabian outlet ArriyadiyahAl-Hilal plans to temporarily suspend its registration due to the injury.

According to the rules of the Saudi Pro League (SPL), each team is allowed to register only eight non-Saudi players in their squad.

The report claims that Al-Hilal manager Jorge Jesus is keen to strengthen his squad in January, with the Portuguese coach looking to sign a foreign left-back.

And following discussions between him and the club’s hierarchy, Neymar will now not be part of the squad until he recovers from injury, with Al-Hilal already having eight foreign stars.

The aforementioned players currently registered are Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, Kalidou Koulibaly, Ruben Neves, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Brazilian pair Malcolm and Michael, along with Neymar.

Despite his big-money move, Neymar’s latest injury problems came after a mixed start in the Middle East, with the 31-year-old scoring just once in five games for Al-Hilal.
