Mary Fowler jetted off to Sydney for the first time since reuniting with boyfriend Nathan Cleary on Tuesday night – just after naming the best moment of a year that was packed with highlights.

The Matildas star visited the Rise & Shine Kindergarten in Beverley Park in the south of the city on Wednesday morning after signing up as a brand ambassador for the company.

A beaming Fowler, dressed casually in shorts and a nursery school top, was all smiles as she walked in at Sydney Airport just hours after her romantic reunion with Cleary, as they finally caught up after months apart .

Fowler appeared in good spirits as she attended a meeting at a nursery school she represents in Sydney's south on Wednesday morning

She had just reunited with boyfriend Nathan Cleary hours beforehand when she flew to Sydney after the pair had been apart since November 2.

Fowler's Manchester City team don't play again until January 15, giving her plenty of time to catch up with Cleary and her family over Christmas

Earlier in the morning she appeared on Today and was asked to pick the best moment of a year, which included not only Matildas' stunning performance at the World Cup, but also her star rising so high she was just on the cover of Marie . Claire Magazine.

“It's hard to pick just one moment, but looking back, that penalty shootout against France (at the World Cup) was probably pretty epic,” she said.

With Fowler's Manchester City team not playing until January 15, she has plenty of time to stay down under as she catches up with Cleary and her family in her home city of Cairns.

She and her footy star boyfriend had been separated since parting ways at Perth Airport on November 2, just days after their romance became public thanks to Ny Breaking Australia's exclusive photos of them in a Perth park.

Cleary and Fowler's romance became public in late October when Ny Breaking Australia's exclusive photos showed them sharing some tender moments in a Perth park

They were reunited for their first Christmas, along with a photo of the meeting at the airport Tuesday night circulating on social media.

Fowler was expected back in Australia on December 20, but arrived a day earlier than planned.

She was greeted by a smiling Cleary as the couple shared a kiss and a hug before leaving the arrivals hall.

Asked on Today about the Matildas' impact on Australians, Fowler said the team has undergone a sea change in the way women's sport is viewed.

“I definitely feel like there's a shift in things, I think there's been a huge spike in the popularity of women's football, not just in Australia but globally.

“Hearing from the other girls (Matildas), it's quite amazing that people just walk down the street and others recognize them and want to congratulate you on what you've done.”

Fowler recently raised eyebrows among her Instagram followers when she posted a dazzling selfie showing her adopting a glamorous new look

Both athletes are said to be very private when it comes to their relationships, but Cleary recently admitted that the intense spotlight on his personal life was something he didn't expect.

“It's definitely different from when I was young when I went into first grade and people would dissect my game. I hadn't had that before,” Cleary told News Corp.

'That was an obstacle at the time. You start to learn to deal with that.'

The three-time premiership-winning halfback has accepted that he cannot control media attention either.

'I haven't let that many people look into my personal life yet. But it just depends on what's involved. It's something I have no control over,” he said.
