A third AFL star has reportedly been ‘caught up’ in a late-night brawl on Boxing Day alongside a Richmond player and a Melbourne defender.

The Herald Sun reported last week that Dion Prestia and Steven May were part of a group who were ‘harassed and attacked’ at around 2am last Thursday.

The incident is said to have occurred near the Continental Hotel in Sorrento on the Mornington Peninsula, with two people subsequently taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries to their upper and lower bodies.

Police are reportedly investigating the matter.

Sources close to The Herald Sun have claimed that the premiership-winning couple were among the group, adding that the altercation was instigated by other parties.

‘Prestia saw it happen, but he was not involved in any way. They were not involved in any physical altercation,” a spokesperson for Prestia’s team and Richmond said.

The Herald Sun also added in a separate report released on Thursday that another AFL star was reportedly “in the area” at the time the brawl took place.

The outlet did not reveal the identity of the third player, but claimed the footy star has ‘something of a public profile’, before adding that he ‘might be able to help with enquiries’.

There is no allegation that either player was involved in the physical altercation.

It is clear that the victims were not interested in filing a complaint with the police.

Mail Sport has contacted Richmond, Melbourne and the AFL for comment.

Prestia and May were signed from the Gold Coast in the 2010 National Draft, with the Richmond star going on to play six seasons for Queensland.

May would stay for eight seasons and play 123 games for the Suns before moving to Melbourne in 2019.

The Premiership-winning duo have enjoyed great success since leaving the Suns.
