Horror as two children are hit by a 4WD during an afternoon bike ride in Perth

Shocking CCTV footage has captured the moment two boys were thrown meters from their bikes after being hit by a 4WD.

The children, aged 8 and 11, had just turned onto Amberton Avenue in Girrawheen, north of Perth, when a black Mitsubishi Pajero Wednesday at 5:15 p.m.

Both were rushed to Perth Children’s Hospital in a serious condition.

The eight-year-old suffered critical injuries and is in a serious but stable condition.

The 11-year-old came to hospital with serious injuries and is also stable.

Both children were riding the same bicycle and it is unclear whether both were wearing helmets at the time of the collision.

Neighbors reported hearing a loud bang and those who ran into the street found the boys seriously injured on the road.

The 39-year-old male driver of the 4WD was uninjured and is now assisting police with their investigation.

WA Police Commissioner Col Blanch said it is important motorists pay attention to what is happening on the roads around them.
