Tense moment struggling Indian cricket star Virat Koli gets into heated spat with Aussie camera crew
Indian cricket sensation Virat Kohli is involved in a tense altercation with reporters at Melbourne airport.
Kohli arrived in the city along with several members of his family ahead of the Boxing Day Test next week, but the 36-year-old appeared to take exception to camera crews outside the arrivals hall.
Turning to a film crew, he revealed that he was outraged by the presence of cameras pointed at his family.
“With my kids I need some privacy, you can’t film without asking me,” the former India captain was heard saying.
Explaining the situation further, 7News reporter Theo Doropoulos said: “Seeing the waiting cameras, Kohli got a little excited about what was largely a misunderstanding when he thought the media was filming him with his children.”
Both Channel 7 and Channel 9 have said that Kohli’s children were not filmed at any point during the family’s arrival.
After turning away from the cameras, he returned to talk to reporters to clear the air. He was heard saying, “If I’m alone, it’s okay. Did you ask?’
It is understood film crews had been at the airport to film Victorian bowler Scott Boland but had also seen Kohli and his family leaving the airport.
The Indian batsman, who has over 270 million Instagram followers, is one of the world’s most popular sports stars. In the past he has tried to keep his family out of the public eye.
