Eddie Hearn has questioned whether boxing fans have seen the best of Tyson Fury ahead of the Gypsy King’s heavyweight rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury, 36, takes on Usyk at the Kingdom Arena in Saudi Arabia on Saturday evening.

He will look to bounce back from the first defeat of his professional career in May, with Usyk winning their first showdown via split-decision ruling.

Usyk’s victory made the Ukrainian the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

This time there are three titles up for grabs as Usyk has since vacated the IBF title.

Speaking exclusively to Mail Sport ahead of the rematch, Hearn reflected on whether Fury’s best days are now behind him.

The promoter highlighted Fury’s fight against MMA star turned boxer Francis Ngannou ahead of his first showdown with Usyk, as well as fights with Derek Chisora and Dillian Whyte.

“Maybe, but I think we’re also very quick to judge,” Hearn told Mail Sport.

‘The problem is that before the Usyk fight it was Ngannou and he didn’t look great at all in that fight, but it was Ngannou and it was awkward, was he motivated?

“Before that it was Chisora, which was quite simple for him, and before that it was Dillian Whyte. At some point it will catch up with you.

“Also, don’t forget that Usyk was devastated after that last fight, it wasn’t an easy fight for him.

“When they brought him back to the locker rooms after the fight, it looked like he was being held up. What did it cost him?

“None of these guys are spring chickens in the sport. So with that final fight, it will be interesting to see if it cost anyone anything

‘Usyk seemed so confident in the interviews I’ve seen with him, saying ‘I’m the best, I’m pound for pound… I’ll stop him’. I’ve actually never seen him like that before.

“We’ll break down the body language and who’s saying what, but all that matters is 11 p.m. Saturday night.”

Fury has focused on setting up a potential trilogy with Usyk by beating the Ukrainian on Saturday.

He claims he has rewatched their first fight ‘a hundred times’ and will make some adjustments in an attempt to cause Usyk’s first career defeat.

When asked what will be different in the rematch, Fury said; “I’m going to knock him out, as promised.”
