Democrat announces new baby with second wife after ‘walking out’ on his pregnant ex
A soon-to-be senator just announced that he is expecting a third child with his second wife.
Democratic Arizona Sen.-elect Ruben Gallego, 44, is expecting a baby boy with his wife Sydney Gallego, he announced on his X Tuesday.
“We are adding a new member to the Gallego family,” he posted.
‘Isla and Michael are getting a new brother!’ the Democrat said. ‘Love you [Sydney]!’
The sweet note included an ultrasound photo that hung like a piece of jewelry on a glowing Christmas tree.
Sydney, a lobbyist, retweeted the message with a heart emoji.
“Even more to be thankful for this year,” she wrote.
But the happy announcement of the growing family comes just months after the shocking news that the Democratic senator-elect ended his last marriage while his then-wife was pregnant.

Gallego stunned his ex-wife by asking for a divorce just days before she was due to give birth, according to court documents that lawmakers wanted kept sealed and hidden from the public in October.
They show that he allegedly told his ex-wife, current Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego, that their marriage was over on December 15, 2016.
Gallego filed a motion to seal the divorce decrees on the same day he filed them, and fought with the divorce decree The free beacon of Washington to keep it that way after the conservative outlet filed a lawsuit seeking access to the data.
Divorce records in Arizona are typically public, but Gallego filed to have their records sealed because “each party is a prominent public official,” and their case “would likely receive intense media scrutiny.”
In the documents, Kate appeared to be surprised by Gallego’s characterization of their marriage as “irretrievably broken,” and responded in court that she was “without knowledge” of his intentions.
His 2016 divorce records directly refute any claims of abuse, but state that “there was no domestic violence in the marriage” and that “there was no significant domestic violence.”
Their divorce was finalized in April 2017. Kate served on the Phoenix City Council at the time and was elected mayor of Phoenix in March 2019.
The couple welcomed a son shortly after their divorce was finalized. A little more than a year later, Gallego, then 39, says he met his current wife, lobbyist Sydney Barron, 25. They later welcomed a daughter, Isla, in July 2023.

Republican presidential candidate, former President Donald Trump, listens as Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake speaks during a campaign rally at the Findlay Toyota Arena on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2024, in Prescott Valley, Ariz.
The two announced their marriage in early 2020, with Gallego declaring to supporters that he was “the luckiest man in the world.”
Both Ruben and Kate Gallego asked the court to keep their divorce papers sealed because they were concerned about their son’s privacy.
The battle for the documents took place just weeks before Election Day, when Gallego took on Kari Lake.
However, the allegations about Gallego in the divorce filings have not been dismissed by Arizona voters, who broke 50 percent for the Democrat and 48 percent for Lake.
In turn, Lake, a former TV host, was recently nominated as director of Voice of America.
