Chance The Rapper’s wife files for divorce after five years of marriage and two children together

Chance The Rapper’s wife Kirsten Corley has now filed for divorce, eight months after the duo first announced their split.

TMZ reports that the musician’s wife filed a request on Friday to end their five-year marriage.

The couple married in 2019 in Newport Beach, California and share two children together: daughters Kensli, nine, and Marli, five.

It is not yet known whether Kirsten has applied for spousal support or child support.

The filing comes months after Chance, 31, and Kristen, 31, announced their intention to divorce after a “period of separation.”

“The two of us have come to the decision to part ways,” the duo said in a statement in April. “We have come to this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we have spent together.

“God has blessed us with two beautiful daughters that we will continue to raise together.”

“We kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate this transition,” the estranged couple added.

Recently, the estranged duo put their differences aside when they took their children to see Olympic champion Simone Biles.

Chance posted photos of the meet to his Instagram account in October, writing, “I took the girls to @goldoveramericatour and met some of the greatest athletes in the world! Thank you so much @simonebiles for taking the time to meet my children as they are on their own journey through gymnastics.”

The Coca Butter Kisses singer and Kirsten stood behind their children while Simone posed next to their girls.

Chance (born Chancellor Johnathan Bennett) and Kirsten have known each other since they were children.

They started dating in 2013 when they were both in their late teens and welcomed their first daughter in 2015.

They briefly split in 2016, but got back together that same year and tied the knot in 2019.

Chance and Kirsten got married at The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, and guests included Kim Kardashian and her then-husband Kanye West.

Six months after their wedding, they welcomed their daughter Marli.

Chance enjoys spending time with his daughters and during an appearance on the Jennifer Hudson show in 2022, he opened up about what his children think of their father’s fame.

‘[My daughters] “I know I’m famous, but I don’t think they know anyone else is famous, which is great,” he said.

“They’re not going to be impressed by anyone I bring and show them I’m there, but they know I sing and they like my songs, so I’m going to stick with that as long as I can. ‘

The first divorce announcement comes a year after Chance was photographed inappropriately dancing with a woman who was not his wife at Carnival in Jamaica.

Model Mela Millz shared a video on her Instagram that showed The Voice’s coach spanking her bare bottom.

His fans were divided in their reactions to the video. Some called him out, with one writing: ‘He left his wife at home on his birthday to come here,’ while another said: ‘Imagine what he does when there’s no cameras around. .’

Other fans pointed out that he was merely embracing the frivolity of the annual Carnival celebration.

“Obviously some of you don’t know anything about CARNIVAL or the CULTURE,” someone else wrote.
