Commanders rookie fumes at having to pay $10,000 check for team dinner

After a bougie DC dinner that included glass-bowled Louis

Jer’Zhan “Johnny” Newton seemed unhappy that the team’s veterans, who brought some rookies to town, presented them with the check at the end of the night.

“F*** everyone!” Newton said when recorded by teammate Phidarian Mathis, who posted the two-word quote to his Instagram Story.

Fortunately for Newton, during what appears to be an all-defensive linemen dinner, fellow rookies in the trenches, Norell Pollard and Javontae Jean-Baptiste, seemed to split the bill into three, slightly lessening the damage to their wallets.

More than $3,000 in one sitting is not sustainable for anyone. The veteran commanders have undoubtedly expressed their appreciation.

“Shout out to my rookie, shout out to the rookies!” said Washington defensive tackle Daron Payne, as Newton smiled in the distance as a round of top-shelf Congac landed in their cups.

Before taxes and fees, the bill came to over $7,200, with one person ordering both the rockfish and lamb chops.

It’s unclear which restaurant the defensive linemen chose, but making nearly $10,000 on one cover is certainly part of a successful dinner.

“It’s going to be okay, little brother,” Mathis told Newton, eliciting the cursed response with the huge check nearby. “It’s going to be okay brother. It’s just part of the rookie addendum, know what I mean. Cheers to your little brother.”

The Commanders are in the midst of one of the NFL’s resurgent seasons at 9-5 and are in prime playoff position.

Outside of starting quarterback Jayden Daniels, the team’s defensive line has been one of their strongest position groups all season.

Even though the newbies may not earn as much as some of their experienced counterparts, a lavish dinner is something they can afford every now and then.

A few postseason bonuses would cover the check for Newton and others, and then some.
