Two men who self-identify as fired Twitter employees claimed Elon Musk has already started firing Twitter employees.

The new ‘Chief Twit’ reportedly wielded the ax on Friday morning, just hours after taking over the social media giant after a dramatic $44 billion takeover.

He allegedly fired an entire team of data engineers, two of whom marched out of the San Francisco headquarters with their belongings in cardboard boxes. CNBC.

They are said to be “visibly shaken,” and one — named Daniel Johnson — even told the point of sale that he owned a Tesla and doesn’t know how he’ll be able to make the payments.

“It’s a place where I worked for six years and suddenly everything changed,” Johnson told reporters about losing his job at the social media company.

It comes after Musk formally took over Twitter late last night and fired several top executives, including the CEO, CFO and lead attorney.

He also overturned lifetime bans and restrictions on a range of famous faces booted off the platform, including Donald Trump and Kanye West.

However, Musk tweeted on Friday that “no major content decisions or account recovery will happen” without the approval of a new content moderation board that has “very divergent views.”

On Thursday, Musk gave the boat to Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal and CFO Ned Segal, along with Twitter attorney Vijaya Gadde, widely regarded as the “head of censorship” at the company.

Gadde walks away with a significant payout – a total of $72 million in stock she owned, salary and benefits, and shares not yet acquired when she was in office but now being paid out as part of the deal.

MarketWatch reports that Gadde, Agrawal and Segal are grabbing a $204 million “golden parachute” together; Agrawal will receive $66 million and Segal $65 million.

Musk has not yet publicly named their replacements, but is expected to serve as interim CEO at least temporarily.

When Musk led them out last night, he asked Tesla engineers to visit headquarters today to rewrite the website’s code.

One of his plans is to open up open source algorithms to increase transparency for users about how their data is used to suggest content to them, as well as add an ‘edit’ button for everyone.
