‘Cursed’ home where Brittany Murphy died and Britney Spears encountered ‘bad spirits’ listed for sale for $18m
The legendary Hollywood mansion once owned by Britney Spears and Brittany Murphy is listed for nearly $18 million.
Spears, 43, claimed she was so shocked by “evil spirits” that she left the house and never returned. She sold it fully furnished to Murphy in 2003 for $3.85 million.
The Clueless actress would spend her final days there before collapsing on the property on December 20, 2009 and was later pronounced dead at the age of 32.
Just five months later, her 40-year-old husband Simon Monjack also died at the home.
Now a Zillow mention insists the sprawling home has been “reborn,” having undergone a “complete makeover,” including a “newly designed” exterior and other changes.
David Parnes of Carolwood Estates, a Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles alum, is handling the sale with an asking price of $17,995,000.

The house was owned by several owners after Murphy’s death, which was due to untreated pneumonia, anemia and drug intoxication from prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs.
The current owners purchased the property in 2020.
After Simon’s death, his mother Linda Monjack raised concerns that there was ‘severe mold’ in the property.
She told DailyMail in 2013: ‘All I know is that before Simon’s death he had hallucinations of things crawling out of his skin.’
The theory was previously ruled out by the medical examiner’s office in 2010.
Murphy and Spears both claimed they sensed something strange about the mansion.
The pop star’s former make-up artist Julianne Kaye recalled the meeting that made her leave the house on the outskirts of the city We need to talk about Britney podcast in February 2021.
“She had that house on Sunset Plaza – and I just want to say, this is really weird.[Britney] calling me…I had my friend do reiki healing on her,” she shared.
“He had come up; I think she had a crazy holiday weekend and needed to relax. He left and she swears to God that he opened a spirit portal or something and some evil spirits came in… and they tried to push her down the stairs or something crazy like that.”

“It was so bad that she left,” Kaye added, noting that the singer took refuge in the Casa Del Mar hotel and never returned to her home.
“She says, ‘I know you’re going to think I’m crazy.’ I’m not crazy. I know what I saw. I know what I felt.”
Murphy also felt something unsettling and often expressed her discomfort to her husband.
According to a report published by The Hollywood Reporter in January 2011, Monjack said Brittany was trying to avoid the house.
“She absolutely hated the Rising Glen house,” Simon said. “Every time we drove onto Sunset, Britt would say, ‘Can we please stay at the Beverly Hills Hotel?’
“I would say, ‘Honey, you have to be realistic. We have our house, a 10,000-square-foot house. We’re staying in it.’
