Supermodel Megan Gale reveals the surprising reason she isn’t in a rush to marry fiance Shaun Hampson after 14 years together

Supermodel Megan Gale has revealed the real reason why she didn’t rush to the altar to tie the knot with her fiancé Shaun Hampson.

The couple share two children and have been engaged for seven years, but have no wedding plans in sight.

Megan, 49, has now revealed she is in no rush to tie the knot with her partner of 14 years, Shaun, 36, because the thought of planning a wedding is ‘exhausting’.

The actress made the surprising comment during the latest episode of Stellar’s Something to Talk About podcast.

“It’s been the longest engagement ever,” she joked before discussing why she hadn’t walked down the aisle yet.

“Look, it was always something […] which we were in no hurry to do.

‘Traditionally, everyone says: get engaged, plan the wedding, have children.

‘I’ve never really been a big bridesmaid. It all seems like a lot of work to me. I’m just exhausted thinking about it,” she added.

Megan said having a family was a much bigger priority for her than having a big wedding.

Megan and former AFL champion Shaun had welcomed their two children – son River, 10, and daughter Rosie, seven – before he popped the question in 2017.

‘[We] thought: the children are here. Let’s wait until they’re old enough to join in [in a wedding] and remember it,” she added.

However, Megan didn’t completely rule out having a wedding as she admitted it would be ‘nice’ to exchange vows with Shaun ‘someday’.

The couple started dating in 2010 and Megan has previously revealed the secret to their happy and healthy relationship.

“I think communication is key to any relationship and we do that so well,” Megan told Kylie Gillies and Larry Emdur on Channel Seven’s The Morning Show in 2019.

“He’s great, he’s just the best dad and we get along really well together.”

But things haven’t always been smooth sailing for the couple, as they initially struggled with public perception of their relationship when they first started dating.

Megan previously revealed how she was branded a ‘cougar’ due to her 12-year age difference with Shaun, something they both found difficult.

“Something scandalous was made of it,” she admitted.

“I was called a cougar, he was called a toyboy.”

Shaun told how the attention was ‘horrible’, adding: ‘You don’t plan things like this. I didn’t plan on falling for her like I did. I just wanted to be with her all the time.”

Perth-born star Megan first rose to fame in 1999 after starring in adverts for an Italian telecommunications company.

She then became ‘the face of Australia in Italy’ for the Australian Tourist Commission in 2003.

Megan has also appeared in several Hollywood films, including Mad Max: Fury Road and The Water Diviner.

Last year, the model revealed that she is open to returning to modeling, 16 years after retiring from the industry.

And in a huge career move in September, Megan revived her partnership with David Jones by re-signing as an ambassador for the iconic department store.

Megan, who first signed with David Jones in 2001 and served in the role until 2013, has rejoined the brand on a multi-year deal.

It came after Megan told how much she enjoyed her one-off return to the catwalk for David Jones’ 185th anniversary in March 2023.
