California Democratic Representative Julia Brownley has warned fellow Democrats she risks losing her race, despite President Joe Biden winning her suburban Los Angeles district by nearly 20 points.
Politico reported Thursday at Brownley’s warning, reporting that internal poll showed her only one point, as it looks like the House Democrats are headed for an interim massacre after all.
Polls over the summer indicated the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade could potentially save Congressional Democrats from the typical “shellacking” that traditionally happens to the party’s president during his first term in office. is.

But with less than two weeks to go, Democrats are getting nervous, even in the bluest blue states.
Brownley, who was first elected a decade ago, faces a challenge from Republican Matt Jacobs, a former federal prosecutor.
Jacobs is the grandson of Holocaust survivors and, as a federal prosecutor, went after an al-Qaeda operative who killed two American servicemen in Afghanistan in 2003.
He has so far outraged Brownley and may be helped by the 26th Congressional District lines that now encompass all of Simi Valley — home to the library of the late Republican President Ronald Reagan.
Simi Valley tilts 37 percent Republican, 35 percent Democratic, according to the Ventura County Star.
However, the wider district is 43 percent Democratic and 29 percent Republican.
Jacobs had raised $2.26 million by the end of September, The Star reported, versus the $2.02 million Brownley had raised.
Jacobs spent a lot of that money, with $591,000 left, versus the $2.8 million Brownley had in her campaign coffers.
Some of Brownley’s fellow Democrats have started throwing money into her reelection campaign.
Jacobs has made a point of saying that Brownley refuses to argue with him.
‘I think it’s indefensible. I think it’s incredibly undemocratic,” he said, according to The Star. “I find it incredibly insulting to voters.”
The California newspaper reported that Brownley had agreed to a debate by the League of Women Voters of Ventura County to be held virtually.
Jacobs said it was “not a real debate” as it allows candidates to benefit from off-camera coaching, The Star reported.
Brownley turned down a request to participate in a live debate scheduled for the same day.
That event was eventually cancelled.
“Frankly, I think the voters of the 26th district know my views on all issues,” she said, according to The Star. ‘…I didn’t need the debate. He might have needed the debate.’
