Manchester United teenager Alejandro Garnacho admitted he felt like he was ‘dreaming’ after he first started alongside his idol Cristiano Ronaldo in the 3-0 Europa League win against Sheriff on Thursday.
Garnacho has been a regular part of United’s squad this season, but eventually had the chance to impress Old Trafford from the start and he took his chance.
United ran out comfortable winners, with Diogo Dalot and Marcus Rashford coming on the scoresheet before Ronaldo scored the last goal of the game late. Afterwards on social media, Garnacho was clearly still over the moon after playing with Ronaldo on United’s front lines.

The pair both laughed at each other as they walked off the pitch during halftime
“I don’t know if it’s real or if I’m dreaming,” Garnacho wrote alongside a photo of Ronaldo wrapping his arm around him on the pitch.
Garnacho looked radiant from the start and received a huge ovation from the home crowd when he was replaced by Donny Van De Beek 11 minutes before time.
It was also a big night for Ronaldo on his return to the team after being left out of the Red Devils’ trip to Chelsea last Saturday for refusing to go up against Tottenham three days earlier.
The 37-year-old chose to leave the bench early and storm into the tunnel against Spurs, which resulted in him being disciplined by Erik Ten Hag.

However, the two had clear conversations earlier this week and Ronaldo was welcomed back into the selection of the first team, after which Ten Hag threw him directly into the starting lineup on Thursday evening.
It looked like it was going to be a frustrating night for Ronaldo as he missed a few chances but finally got the goal he craved in the 81st minute. He was quickest to react to his first header before tapping home from close range.
His goal came just hours after he posted on Instagram that he remained just as ‘committed’ to United, despite speculation about his future at the club.
This message suggested he could stay at United, which could give Garnacho the chance to play alongside him more often in the coming weeks.
The 18-year-old seemed unimpressed by the opportunity on his first start, and with Jadon Sancho struggling to form on the left wing, Garnacho was able to quickly work his way into the starting lineup.
