Jude Bellingham scores for fourth game in a row to ease Real Madrid’s Champions League elimination fears in 3-2 win over Atalanta – before England star gets a big hug Micah Richards in post-match interview

Jude Bellingham extended his scoring streak to four games in a row after Real Madrid beat Atalanta 3-2 on Tuesday evening.

Madrid went into the Champions League match needing a win after falling behind their rivals and finding themselves in a position where they could exit Europe entirely.

However, Carlo Ancelotti’s team had the upper hand thanks to goals from Kylian Mbappé, Vinicius Jr and Bellingham.

French forward Mbappe opened the scoring with a neatly taken shot in the 10th minute of the match after slipping behind Atalanta’s defense.

However, just 26 minutes later, his evening was cut short after he struggled with a thigh injury and was substituted shortly afterwards. Reports claim that he will now undergo tests.

After the removal of Mbappé, the hosts hit back just before half time through Charles De Ketelaere, which made Carlo Ancelotti think further at half time.

However, the experienced Italian helped inspire them to get two goals after the break through Bellingham and Vinicius Jr.

Bellingham’s goal was particularly impressive as he dropped the shoulder, causing the Atalanta defender to stumble before cutting to his left and smashing it into the net.

It was his fourth in a row in all competitions, coming shortly after scoring in five consecutive La Liga games for the Spanish giants.

However, it was not plain sailing for Los Blancos and the hosts fired back again in the 65th minute through Ademola Lookman, creating a nerve-wracking finish.

But in the end, Madrid managed to secure the crucial three points and move up to 18th place in the Champions League.

After the match, Bellingham joined Micah Richards for an interview with CBS Sports, where the pundit couldn’t resist giving the Madrid star a big reward.

Richards then asked Bellingham about the match against Atalanta and his recent productive form in front of goal.

About the match he said: ‘[It was] Difficult. They played very well. They have great weapons and it’s a tough atmosphere to play in. But it is important that we get the job done because we needed those points.”

“I think in the end we were clinical. We took the opportunities that came our way. They probably had most of the ball, but in areas that were comfortable for us. But it was such a difficult match and that makes the victory even sweeter.’

He then addressed his goal, saying: ‘I didn’t know where the ball was going! I had to duck and wait for it to hit my back and everyone to start booing me.

‘But luckily I managed to get one on one into the box, I swung everything at it and it went in!’

Bellingham said at the time: ‘Yes, even before I scored goals it was frustrating for me because I felt like I was playing well.

‘But because of the expectations I set last season, I always want to influence the game with goals and assists. If I can score goals and influence the game directly then that makes me much more valuable to the team and that’s all I want to be. Hopefully I’ll be looking forward to it again!’
