Helen Flanagan has hit back at ‘mean’ trolls who branded her face a ‘mess’ as they took aim at the excessive lip fillers.

The former Coronation Street star, 32, was targeted after posting a video of herself getting ready for a night out in Liverpool, where she showed off her heavily lined lips.

Helen took to her Instagram Stories on Sunday evening where she shared a glimpse of some of the hateful comments she received, including one who said her lips looked like a ‘baboon’s a**’

She wrote: ‘I never understand why people can be so mean x it doesn’t really matter what someone looks like if you have a good heart, beautiful anyway x’

The comments came under a video of the actress getting glammed up for the evening, with the clip first showing Helen without make-up with a towel on her head as she leaned over to check her skin tone.

She then transformed in the video, putting on a full make-up look with her tresses styled in glamorous waves.

However, while many praised her glamorous look, many were quick to lash out at her appearance, calling her lips ‘ridiculous’ and too big.

In January 2023, Helen revealed that she had had lip filler just a month after breast augmentation.

The former soap star shared a video of herself applying lipstick as she explained the reasons behind her latest cosmetic procedure.

She said: I have big lips but my bottom lip was bigger and because I have my top lip lined I wanted a little bit of filler to even them out.

Mother-of-three admits she has also had Botox in the past and advised Helen: ‘Don’t do anything if you’re too young.’

She continued, “I’m 32 now. I have Botox and that’s my choice. I support women no matter what choices they make. I thought about this for a long time before I started working on it.’

Helen’s cosmetic doctor, Dr Natalie Haworth, told MailOnline: ‘The treatment Helen received from me at my Whalley clinic in Lancashire, The Doctor & Company, is what I like to call an ‘adjustment’.

‘A small adjustment here and there provides a more natural result and will quickly become the favorite look for 2023.’

This isn’t the first time Helen has had to fire back at trolls who commented on her plump lips.

In a video posted in July, Helen responded to a critic who told her to “stop sticking her lips out” in all her photos as she told them women should “uplift” each other.

In the original post about her hair extensions Helen wrote: ‘I can’t wait to get my extensions back in tomorrow’ I’ve had a two week break so I can put my hair up but I feel so much better with my Extensions in and so much more confident x

‘My hair is so thin, I wish I had naturally thick hair. x I don’t know if having the kids so close together is making my hair worse or if it’s stressing me out x.”

But she was forced to respond when someone felt the need to ask, “I like following you and your page, I’m just wondering why you’re constantly sticking your lips out non-stop.” You are a beautiful and wonderful mother, but in every photo and post you are standing with your mouth open and showing your pout.”

Comment below the message, Helen replied: ‘I have naturally big lips and that’s just my face x it shouldn’t bother you so much x women should lift each other up x’

“No you puffed up your lips with fillers, I don’t like anything natural there,” another troll responded.

Helen added: ‘I’ve had the tiniest bit in my top lip to even out because my bottom lip is big. Why do you say it so catty? What’s actually wrong with women who have lip fillers?’
