Jamie Carragher labels Tottenham star ‘absolutely brain-dead’ as he blasts ‘ridiculous’ foul in Spurs’ leaky 4-3 defeat against Chelsea

Jamie Carragher and Jamie Redknapp were scathing in their criticism of a Tottenham player for a moment of madness during Sunday’s 4-3 defeat to Chelsea.
Spurs made a perfect start to the match, taking advantage of two errors from Marc Cucurella to take a 2-0 lead after just eleven minutes.
The Blues hit back through Jadon Sancho before Yves Bissouma recklessly flew into a tackle on Moises Caicedo in the penalty area.
The midfielder was unable to get the ball as Caicedo fell over and the referee had no hesitation in awarding the stonewall penalty.
Cole Palmer sent the penalty and his side won the match and moved up to second place.
And Sky pundits Carragher and Redknapp both agreed Bissouma’s challenge was ‘ridiculous’.

Jamie Redknapp branded the challenge ‘brain dead’ during Sky’s post-match reporting
Carragher said: ‘Some of the things Tottenham players do are absolutely ridiculous. It is a certain punishment. That is absolutely brain dead. Who would be a manager?’
Redknapp added: “When Caicedo went centre, he started to direct the game. Bissouma had 27 seconds of madness.
‘He doesn’t show enough speed to get back in there. He dives into a ridiculous tackle. Absolutely ridiculous.’
Redknapp was also critical of Pape Matar Sarr for his foul on Palmer, which earned Chelsea a second penalty.
“You know how skilled he is [Palmer] is,” he said. That’s so awkward, that’s so bad, because this was the moment that cost them the match. Ridiculous challenge, it only costs your team,” Redknapp said.
‘Those are two poorly disciplined people [tackles] of your two defensive midfielders.’
Carragher also had some strong words for Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou.
“Unless he makes this team hard to beat, he won’t win anything,” the former Liverpool defender added.
‘When I hear a manager say: ‘We play the same way [no matter what]’, it’s nonsense, it’s absolute nonsense.’
Jamie Redknapp also thought it was a ‘ridiculous’ challenge for the Spurs midfielder
Carragher continued, “Him [Postecoglou] said something in his interview there about how well they played. He said, “When we are at our best, we cause team problems.”
‘I can’t imagine any manager I played for at Liverpool, if we conceded four in a game, would say in an interview that we played well.
‘I’ve never been able to understand certain managers saying ‘we play a certain way and we’ll never change’.
‘There is an idea, this pure game, where the Tottenham fans say they have their Tottenham back. You won’t win anything. You will not challenge, [or] do everything.
