Michail Antonio’s ex-wife rushed to his bedside after a horror Ferrari crash reportedly left the West Ham star with a broken leg.

Firefighters battled with cutting equipment for 45 minutes to free the father-of-four from his £260,000 Ferrari after the brutal crash in Theydon Bois, Essex.

After being taken to hospital, the 34-year-old was said to be in a ‘serious condition’. Reports indicate he broke his leg, police said. Telegraph.

His ex-wife Debbie is also said to have traveled from her home in Manchester to be with him in hospital.

A source told the Sun: ‘He is conscious and communicating, but everyone at the club is very concerned. We’re all praying he gets through this.”

The Essex County Fire and Rescue Service revealed that crews were called at 1.02pm on Saturday after Antonio crashed into a tree around 12.50pm.

It was previously revealed that the footballer may have suffered injuries to both legs and damaged a thigh bone while being examined by doctors at a central London hospital.

Photos taken at the scene of the accident show extensive damage to the right side of the gray Ferrari, which reportedly had gray smoke pouring out of it.

Shortly after the images began circulating on social media, West Ham confirmed the Jamaican international had been involved in a crash.

The club later said the player is “conscious and communicating” after being taken to hospital.

A full statement from the club reads: ‘West Ham United can confirm that Michail Antonio is in a stable condition following a road accident in the Essex area this afternoon.

‘Michail is conscious and communicating and is currently under close supervision in a hospital in central London.

‘During this difficult time, we kindly ask everyone to respect the privacy of Mikhail and his family.

‘The Club has no further comment to make this evening, but will provide a further update in due course.’

Essex Police are now asking for dashcam footage as officers investigate the serious collision in Epping on Coppice Row, which happened shortly after 12.50pm.

It is believed to be a single collision and the Ferrari has since been recovered and is no longer at the scene.

Essex Police said an investigation into the crash will now be carried out by the Roads Policing unit.

The Hammers did not play on Saturday and will host Wolves on Monday evening.

The Premier League player was previously involved in a car accident on Christmas Day in 2019.

The footballer had crashed his £210,000 Lamborghini Huracan into a bin at a family home in Balham, south London, while dressed as a snowman after losing control of his car.

Antonio previously talked about the financial consequences of the crash.

“This year I had trouble getting insurance,” he said three years ago. ‘Nobody wanted to insure me!

‘I had to go to a specialist insurance company, so my insurance this year is madness! I now have a G63. They offered me £10,000 for one [Audi] A3 to insure, or buy a G63 and pay double the price but drive a G63 instead of an A3.

‘I’d rather pay €20,000 and drive a G63 than €10,000 and drive an A3.

‘It was Christmas Day. It still hurts me to this day. I miss that car. Actually I was driving, but it was a slippery road.

‘In the car it turns nicely and holds the road well, so I was doing 30-55 km/h on a 50 km/h road. Since there are corners in it, I think I don’t have to break, I just go around the corner like I always do.

‘But when I turn the corner, it skids. So while he’s skidding, I fuck myself and hit the brakes – the worst thing you can do on ice when you’re just accelerating when you’re supposed to just keep going.

‘So I hit the brakes, skidded and went onto the curb – but I can’t really remember, everything just happened so quickly.

“Then there’s smoke coming out of the front of the car and the engine’s in the back, so I’m thinking ‘the car’s going to explode!’, even though it’s just the airbags.

“So I have to jump out of the passenger side of the little car. It’s madness.

“And the thing is, I was in a snowman costume too. I don’t understand why I didn’t get it out of there and fix it.”

Antonio has been an ever-present in West Ham’s Premier League team this season.

The 34-year-old made 15 appearances in all competitions for West Ham during the campaign, scoring once.

Antonio is West Ham’s all-time top scorer in the Premier League, scoring 68 times in the top flight.

The striker joined from Nottingham Forest in 2015 and was part of the team that won the UEFA Conference League in 2017.

He was also named the club’s Player of the Year in 2017.

Father-of-four Antonio revealed earlier this year that he was undergoing therapy after falling so in love with football that he once hoped an injury would sideline him.

The 34-year-old felt increasing pressure on his mental health following his divorce from his ex-wife.

“I was dealing with my divorce and everything, and I honestly couldn’t ignore it,” Antonio said

‘After we won, the whole team went out, the gaffer (David Moyes) went out, got going, a few guys didn’t sleep for two days, just got drunk for two days.

‘I slept on the bus and went back to the hotel. “I was just mentally exhausted from everything that was happening outside of my football and then I went back to the hotel and went to sleep while everyone was partying.”

‘It wasn’t until December that I was in a better place and thought, “Oh my God, I’ve won a European Championship.”

The forward noted during a match in December 2022 that he kept thinking: ‘I don’t enjoy football.’

‘During the match I thought: ‘I really don’t like this.’ I just felt quite negative. I am a very positive person myself.

“I didn’t score from December until I think it was March, April. And I just felt exhausted. And then I left with Jamaica because for some strange reason I enjoyed football with Jamaica. But I was actually praying for an injury.

‘I was like, “I just want to get injured, I want some time off.”

“So it’s all those things circling through your head. You think: “Is this the end for me? Is this over my football career?”

‘I started therapy because I was really having a hard time with it. And how I grew up, it was never a thing. I thought therapy was for crazy people. But therapy changed my life. It was awkward at first, I’m not going to lie. You were sitting in the room, someone was there and said, “How are you?”

“And your natural reaction is, ‘Fine.’ So he says, ‘Why are you here?’ I was like, “To be honest, football, I’m having trouble with football, I broke up with my wife.”
