Saturday Night Live star Chris Redd was left bloodied after a man “punched” him in the face as he arrived at a comedy club in New York City.
The 37-year-old comedian was getting out of a car in front of the Comedy Cellar in Greenwich Village when a man dressed in a guard uniform approached him and allegedly assaulted him, TMZ reports.
The prankster was wearing a Greg Yuna necklace, which fell apart when the suspect allegedly grabbed it as he ran away from the bloody crime scene.
Chris, who was due to perform at the venue that evening, was rushed to hospital but is said to be in good shape after suffering a deep cut to his nose.
He was also able to get his necklace back from the scene.

Redd was attacked by a man wearing a guard uniform, who ran away and attacked the comedian, leaving him bloodied
Police rushed to the scene but were unable to locate the man.
The incident happened at 9:40 PM on Wednesday night before his performance at the comedy club.
Chris’ nose was bloodied in the alleged attack, as a result of a deep cut.
The alleged attack comes just weeks after it was revealed that he is dating Christina Evangeline, the ex-wife of co-star Kenan Thompson.
Chris and Kenan are castmates on SNL.

Kenan filed for divorce from Christina in June, but the duo has been said to have split up since 2019.
Kenan and Christina had been married for 11 years before the news broke in May that they were divorcing.

They share two daughters — Georgia, eight, and Gianna, four — and TMZ reports that Kenan requested in his divorce petition that custody be shared equally.
Chris announced this month that he would be leaving Saturday Night Live after five seasons, becoming the eighth cast member to leave the show since May.
The prankster is working on a new project at Audible Audio, with SNL producer Lorne Michaels.
Meanwhile, Kenan is said to be dating other people himself, and reportedly holds no grudges over Chris and Christina’s alleged romance.
The two men have a professional relationship that goes beyond Saturday Night Live — Chris starred on Kenan’s self-titled NBC sitcom, which ended in May after two seasons.
Meanwhile, Chris and Christina have apparently known for six years, that is, about a year before Chris became a featured player on Saturday Night Live.
