Plastic surgeon reveals the most requested FACE of 2024

It is often seen as a taboo subject.

But experts are finally lifting the lid on plastic surgery in Britain.

Dr. Julian De Silva, plastic surgeon at The Clinic London, has revealed the most in-demand face for plastic surgery in 2024.

“Plastic surgery has always been a popular way for individuals to improve their appearance, but in 2024 there is a noticeable shift in the types of procedures people are requesting,” he said.

According to the expert, there are three major trends in plastic surgery this year.

People who go under the knife ask for a well-defined jawline and smooth, wrinkle-free skin.

Meanwhile, a natural, relaxed look is the most popular choice this year, as opposed to a ‘pulled’ look.

Dr. De Silva added: “The influence of celebrity culture cannot be overstated. From Hollywood stars to Instagram influencers, the ideal face has shifted to one that looks youthful yet natural.”

Dr. De Silva said: “The influence of celebrity culture cannot be overstated. From Hollywood stars to Instagram influencers, the ideal face has shifted to one that looks youthful yet natural.”

According to the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, Britain is in the midst of a ‘cosmetic surgery boom’.

Figures from last year showed that no fewer than 31,057 cosmetic procedures took place in 2022 – an increase of 102 percent compared to the previous year.

The five most popular procedures for women are breast augmentation, breast reduction, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), liposuction and eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty).

Meanwhile, the five most popular procedures among men are rhinoplasty (nose surgery), breast reduction, eyelid surgery, liposuction and octoplasty (ear correction).

In a new bloggingconcentrated Dr. De Silva focuses on the most requested facial features this year.

A well-defined jawline, smooth, wrinkle-free skin and a natural, relaxed expression have become the ‘new standard’ for beauty in Britain, according to the expert.

“These features represent the new standard for beauty, and patients are flocking to surgeons to emulate these aesthetics,” he explained.

Dr. De Silva believes that these new beauty standards have been fueled by celebrity culture and social media.

The most requested facial features in 2024

  1. A well-defined jawline
  2. Smooth, wrinkle-free skin
  3. A natural, relaxed expression, instead of a ‘drawn’ look

“With the rise of social media, where flawless skin and sharp jawlines are constantly flaunted, people are under more pressure than ever to meet beauty standards,” he said.

‘Filters and edited images have created unrealistic expectations, causing ordinary people to want to reflect these ideals in real life.’

This trend towards a more relaxed expression has certainly been seen among several celebrities this year.

Lindsay Lohan has captivated fans with her youthful, radiant looks during a number of recent appearances.

Dr. Jonny Betteridge, an aesthetic doctor, recently claimed that the star could have spent up to $300,000 on plastic surgery procedures to achieve the look.

Dr. Betteridge, who is the founder of London-based clinic JB Aesthetics and has a background in emergency medicine, critical care and anaesthesia, shared an Instagram video listing the cosmetic touch-ups he says the actress has undergone.

Among the surgical procedures Betteridge says the Parent Trap star has undergone include a facelift, upper eyelid surgery, a rhinoplasty and a surgical brow lift.

Donatella Versace also wowed onlookers at the premiere of The Devil Wears Prada in London when she looked much more youthful.

Dr. Ross Perry, the founder and medical director of Cosmedics Skin Clinics, said: ‘This is the best I have seen Donatella look.

‘She doesn’t look like she has had much recent work done, but may be maintaining and correcting previous work.

‘This could include more non-invasive skin treatments, removing fillers and opting for fewer surgical procedures than she has done in the past.’

Meanwhile, Christina Aguilera looked unrecognizable on the red carpet last month, sparking rumors of a facelift.

De Betteridge added: ‘Comparing her 18-year-old self to now, at 43, the main changes I can immediately see are her nose – it is much sharper and higher.

‘She has more proportioned lips, both in relation to the upper and lower lips, so we can attribute this to the filler work and also to the dental work, with veneers.

‘Specifically an upper eyelid correction to remove excess eyelid skin and I think an endoscopic facelift.’

If you are considering facial surgery, Dr. De Silva recommends taking the time to find the right surgeon for you.

“Whether it’s the influence of social media or the desire to age gracefully, people are increasingly turning to facelift surgery to achieve a fresh appearance,” he added.

‘If you are considering facelift surgery in London, take your time choosing the right surgeon and have realistic expectations of the results.’

What is a facelift?

A facelift, or rhytidectomy, is a cosmetic procedure that lifts and retracts the skin to make it look tighter and smoother.

It is designed to reduce sagging skin around the neck and cheeks.

In Britain, costs vary from clinic to clinic, from a few thousand pounds for a mini facelift to £10,000 for face and neck surgery.

All independent clinics and hospital clinics carrying out the procedure in England must be registered with the Care Quality Commission, which publishes inspection and performance reports.

Facelifts are normally performed under general anesthesia, but can sometimes be localized.

This often involves making cuts above the hairline at the temples, but also under the chin.

The operation takes about three hours, with most patients needing to stay in the hospital overnight.

It takes about two to four weeks to recover from a facelift, during which patients are unable to work.

Bruises are often visible for two weeks.

It may take six to nine months for the effects to become visible.

Common side effects include a swollen face, bruising, scarring and a raised hairline.

The procedure carries the risk of blood pooling under the skin, nerve damage, hair loss, thick scars, and asymmetrical features.

As with all surgeries, this can lead to excessive bleeding, blood clots, infections and allergic reactions to the anesthetic.

Figures show that 5,600 facelifts were carried out in Britain in 2012. It is unclear how many deaths are recorded each year from the procedure, but the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons warns that death is possible.
