The first thing to emerge from today’s Connections was a collection of words ending in an X. Surely we’re not falling into the trap of thinking they’re a group, are we? Um…
No, no, let’s resist. Of Bad in cinema, words related to witches seem to appear at the right time at the moment, so HEX, SPELL, JINX and POX did not require any magical skills to recognize them.
As I stayed in the cinema, the first thing that came to mind when I heard the word BUZZ was the astronaut from the Toy story movies. Of course, it helps to be a parent who has seen the movies about 62 times, but until now I didn’t know the pig had two Mrs.
As someone who is in a near-permanent state of Amazement, today’s Yellow was simple, but Purple left me in awe – my first thought had to do with things related to wrestling. I’m not sure what PILLED is, but it could be a killer Caretaker move, right? Instead, they were informal suffixes – every day is a school day!
How did you do today? Send me an email and let me know.

What is NYT Connections?
NYT Connections is one of the New York Times’ increasingly popular word games. It challenges you to find groups of four items that have something in common, and each group has a different level of difficulty: green is easy, yellow is a little harder, blue is often quite tough, and purple is usually very difficult.
On the plus side, you technically don’t have to solve the last question because you can answer it by a process of elimination. Plus, you can make up to four mistakes, which gives you some breathing room.
It’s a bit more complicated than something like Wordle, though, and there are plenty of opportunities for the game to trip you up with tricks. For example, beware of homophones and other word games that can obscure the answers.
It is playable for free via the NYT Games site on desktop or mobile.
