Big-name TV actor looks unrecognisable as he’s spotted filming new Paddy Power Christmas football advert in disguise

Can you guess who this big name actor is after Paddy Power gave him a makeover for an upcoming Christmas football advert?

If you can, you have to be his biggest fan because he comes out of the three and a half hour revamp looking nothing like he did when he walked in.

The Albert Square icon had a team of transformation professionals around him who pulled out all the stops to get him ready for the video.

The Christmas period is always a football celebration for fans from all over the country and this year will be no different.

Spurs and Liverpool face off just three days before Christmas, before Manchester United and Newcastle meet in their final match of 2024.

And there’s plenty more to keep fans on the sofa with a mince pie and Christmas pudding to boot.

To whet fans’ appetites for the football extravaganza, Paddy Power decided to enlist the services of a 47-year-old actor.

He has made quite a name for himself on screen with appearances in Human Traffic, Mean Machine and Football Factory.

Oh, and don’t forget EastEnders, where he played Mick Carter for nine years.

We are of course talking about Danny Dyer, father of Love Island’s Dani Dyer and father-in-law of West Ham and England winger Jarrod Bowen.

Could you identify who he was? Or did you need the helping hand of Mail Sport to guide you through it?

“I’m already a grandfather to three amazing kids, but after sitting in that makeup chair for three and a half hours from the crack of dawn, this is basically what I looked like!” Dyer said.

‘To be honest, this is probably the easiest money I’ve ever made: sitting with my legs up, having a drink and chatting. Happy days.

‘It scared the grandchildren when I Facetimed them afterwards. They panicked quite a bit. They had no idea who this random old man on the screen was. Poor things.

‘That said, getting into the bl**dy phone itself was a nightmare as the facial recognition didn’t matter. I had aged about 30 years since I last used it. What a mug.

‘It wasn’t just the grandchildren who didn’t recognize me. I heard a lot of people on set wondering who this old guy was walking around the gaff. I think they thought I owned the house. A nice guy on set even offered to help me up the stairs!

‘I ended up sitting down and having a chat with Callum, who played my son in the advert. We were both in our makeup and just couldn’t believe how different we looked.

‘A real damn state we were!’
