A former X Factor contestant accused of murdering a baby girl has had murder charges against him dropped.
Mitchell David Callaway, 39, was arrested in June 2023 and charged with domestic violence murder following a five-year police investigation.
On July 23, 2018, a nine-month-old girl was found unconscious in a home in Binnaway, south of Coonabarabran in central west NSW.
Paramedics took the baby to Coonabarabran Hospital, where she died a short time later.
Mr Callaway was arrested at a house in Bowraville, in the North Coast hinterland, after police issued an arrest warrant in Binnaway the month before.

But prosecutors formally withdrew the charges at Dubbo Local Court on Thursday, almost 18 months after legal proceedings began.
Mr Callaway had previously been released on bail and did not appear in court in person.
The country singer took part in series three of The X-Factor Australia in 2011, when he came seventh.
His season was won by then-teenage star Reece Mastin.
