Fearne Cotton reveals she is having surgery on two tumours on her jawline and says she has been supported by friend Davina McCall

Fearne Cotton has shared that she has discovered two tumors on her jawline as she announced she will soon undergo surgery.

The TV presenter revealed on Tuesday evening that she had been told that the ‘growing’ masses are sympathetic towards her Instagram followers.

Fearne’s news comes just weeks after her friend Davina McCall revealed she also had to undergo surgery after discovering a very rare brain tumour.

The former Celebrity Juice captain said Davina had been a great support to her after discovering her own tumors and called her a ‘beacon of positivity’.

Alongside a video, Fearne wrote: ‘Hey gang, I’ll be out of action for a while due to surgery. I felt a lump under my ear on my jawline a while ago, but this year I noticed it getting bigger.

‘It turns out to be a benign tumor and a small one above it on the salivary gland. I have a positive feeling about it and will take the opportunity to rest and slow down.

‘If you feel a lump or bump or feel like something is wrong, always have it checked. I’m so glad I did because the longer you let these things sit, the more complicated things become.

‘Obviously it’s so strange that Davina told me about her tumor a few months ago and weeks later I called her because she discovered mine. I’m not only lucky that she’s a damn good partner, but also a beacon of light and positivity when it comes to things like this.

“Sending you lots of love and I’ll see you soon.”

In the video, Fearne showed where the tumors were located as she reassured fans that she was feeling ‘fine and well’ but would be less online as she rested after the operation.

While she added that she would still continue with her popular podcast The Happy Place, which has many pre-recorded episodes.

She said, “Hello everyone, I hope you are doing well. Just hopping over here to leave a quick note to say that I probably won’t be here as much in the next few weeks as I have to have surgery.

‘I have a benign tumor in my jaw, here under my ear. Another little one up here. I am very grateful that they are benign, but they do need to be removed because they are on a nerve.

“So I’m going to have that surgery and then rest to get better before Christmas. I’m not very good at resting, so I wonder how that will go, but I feel good about it. I feel good and well.

“I’m going to watch a lot of TV while I’m on the other side. The podcast continues as usual. I’m going to do all the normal stuff, I’ve collected a bunch of good episodes that are still rolling out and I’ll see you soon’.

Last month Davina, 57, revealed she had undergone brain tumor surgery after revealing she had a ‘very rare’ colloidal cyst that affects only three in a million people.

The presenter explained that she was diagnosed by chance after signing up for a ‘health scan’.

She told her fans in a video: ‘I was offered a health scan which I thought I would pass, but it turned out I had a benign brain tumor, which is very rare, three in a million.

‘I buried my head in the sand for a while, saw a few neurosurgeons, had quite a few opinions and realized I had to get them out.

‘It’s quite big, 14mm wide and needs to come out because if it grows it would be bad. I’ll have it removed.’

She concluded her message: “Say a prayer for me. I’m in a good mood.’

Davina explained that although she was not at immediate risk, doctors were concerned that the tumor could grow larger and cause complications.

Last month Davina, 57, revealed she had undergone brain tumor surgery after revealing she had a ‘very rare’ colloidal cyst that affects only three in a million people.

She revealed that she was feeling “up and down” and explained that she would be in hospital for at least nine days before coming home.

A colloidal cyst is a slow-growing tumor usually found near the center of the brain and containing gelatinous material. The benign growths are often asymptomatic and are found incidentally during imaging tests.

If symptoms occur as the tumor grows, they are typically reported to include headaches that are most severe in the morning upon waking, nausea, and blurred vision, with other major symptoms including dizziness and double vision.

Most patients present with headaches, although other symptoms such as dizziness, memory problems and double vision may occur.

If large enough, a colloidal cyst hinders the movement of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the brain, leading to a high risk of sudden death.

In a health update on Monday, Davina praised her surgeon Kevin O’Neill for carrying out her procedure, and although she initially woke up ‘very confused’ after her operation, she is now doing much better.

She had previously shared an emotional video message from her bed, as she fought back tears as she thanked her friends and family for their support.

As she recovers at home, her boyfriend Michael Douglas has also provided updates, explaining that she is focusing on resting after the “very, very emotional” ordeal.

Davina previously opened up about the problems she has been dealing with since her surgery, but explained that sleep helps her recover.

She said, “Just a little update here. I receive excellent care from Michael and Gabby, my mother. And just to say I’m trying to sleep a lot and get better.

‘My short-term memory is really improving every day. It’s been an example to me of how much sleep helps me recover from everything.

‘So if I’m feeling a little confused or having trouble concentrating, I just go to sleep and wake up completely renewed and refreshed. I know my brain needs a lot of sleep.”

However, Michael has reassured fans that Davina is now ‘out of the woods’ and plans to return to work in mid-January.
