Ellen DeGeneres called wife Portia de Rossi “the best thing that ever happened in my life” in a gushing post shared in honor of their 20th anniversary.
’20 years ago today we started this relationship without realizing what a long beautiful adventure this would be. You are the best thing that ever happened in my life,” her caption began.
‘You take care of me. You help me see the good in everything. You help guide me and pick me up when I’m feeling down or down. You are a beautiful soul that I am so grateful to have a partner to navigate this crazy life with,” the former talk show host, 66, wrote.
The couple recently moved to the Cotswolds region of England in an apparent attempt to avoid living in the US after Donald Trump won the presidency.
She continued, “My wife. My best friend. The love of my life. Thank you for being you and loving me.
“I’m so excited that we’ll spend the next twenty years exploring and traveling the world together, and we’re looking forward to our first snowy Christmas.”

The couple met in Los Angeles in 2001 and started dating in 2004.

That same year, Portia spoke about the relationship, saying it was the first time she really felt like she had someone by her side.

The couple married in 2008 and have since bought houses, moved a lot and shared beloved rescue pups.
Ellen recently left the US for Britain to swap her ‘retirement’ with wife Portia after her career was tarnished by allegations of toxic behavior on her now-defunct talk show.
The couple shocked fans after they were spotted exploring their new property in rural England – amid reports they have put their Montecito mansion on the market in response to the 2024 presidential election.

But according to insiders, the couple was already planning to leave the United States before Donald Trump won the election.
‘Make no mistake about it. This is Ellen and Portia’s retirement,” an insider told DailyMail.com exclusively. ‘Neither of them has a project in the pipeline.
The insider noted that the former talk show heavyweight has had to do a lot less work following accusations that she created a toxic workplace on the set of her show.
“Ellen really felt like she had made her mark on the industry, but that diminished when she was fired for the alleged treatment of her staff,” the source added. “It was so painful to have celebrities call her out one by one.”
