Biden picks up anti-Israel book during Black Friday shopping outing with grandson Beau and family
Outgoing President Joe Biden’s Black Friday shopping trip stunned onlookers when he carried a book deemed anti-Israel.
Biden was seen holding The Hundred Years’ War on Palestine: A History of Settler Colonial Conquest and Resistance, 1917-2017 by Columbia University Professor Emeritus Rashid Khalidi at a local bookstore.
The book sharply criticizes what it describes as the Zionist movement’s acts of “settler colonialism” on behalf of Israel, calling what is happening in Palestine “the oppression of one people by another.”
One reviewer described it as ‘a highly partisan report from a Palestinian perspective.’
The purchase was seen as strange by Biden, who has called himself a staunch Zionist for decades and once said: “If there were no Israel, we would have to invent one.”
Those who were put off by the sight of the president holding the book in his arms was the author Khalidi.
“My response is that this is four years too late,” he told the New York Post.
Khalidi is also not exactly a fan of the returning president’s views on the subject, as he calls Donald Trump a “mouthpiece” for Israel.
