Man bleeds to death after being scratched by his beloved cat
A man who suffered from diabetes and poor blood clotting has died after being scratched by his beloved cat, causing him to bleed.
The scratches on 55-year-old Dmitry Ukhin’s leg were reportedly so severe that he died of blood loss.
The incident took place in the Kirishi district of the Leningrad region, Russia, when Dmitry went looking for his cat on Friday afternoon, November 22, after it wandered away from home two days earlier.
Ukhin is said to have found the pet on the street and taken it home.
But that evening the cat scratched Dmitry’s leg severely.
The cat’s owner suffered from diabetes and poor blood clotting, apparently caused by high blood pressure.
Dmitry’s wife was away, so he called his neighbor and told him that he was dying. He couldn’t stop the bleeding and called the doctors.
A police source reportedly told local media: ‘Around 11pm, a man called 911 to report that his friend was bleeding from his leg due to a ruptured vein.

“The doctors who arrived on the scene only confirmed the man’s death, about which the police received a telephone message.”
According to the unnamed neighbor who gave the man first aid, it took a long time for the medical team to arrive.
The deceased’s wife confirmed this information to local media.
The woman, named Natalya, said the cat, named Styopka, liked to walk alone, was friendly and harmless.
The fatal cat’s fate is currently unclear.
The cause of death has yet to be confirmed by forensic experts.
