The Secretive Co-Creator Says ‘I Can’t Confirm or Deny’ If the Big Fan Theory of the Jinx Season 2 Finale Is True, But I Think His Response Says Something Else

Full spoilers ahead immediately Arcane‘s season 2 finale.
Arcane co-creator Christian Linke has suggested that despite what happens in the season 2 finale, Jinx is still alive.
Speaking exclusively to Ny Breaking after the final episodes of the Netflix show aired last Saturday (November 23), Linke suggested that Arcane‘s deuteragonist did not die. Although Linke said he could “neither confirm nor deny” that this was the case, the fact that he shuffled nervously in his seat and put on a wry smile all but confirmed that Jinx did not die in this season’s ninth and final entry.
There’s plenty of evidence to suggest that Jinx also lives to fight another day, which I’ve previously discussed in my Arcane season 2 act 3 ending explained piece. For starters, as Jinx detonates her Hextech bomb to kill Warwick and seemingly sacrifice herself, Jinx appears to use her Shimmer-based super-speed powers to prevent the explosion. Indeed, an unmistakable purple streak, i.e. the color of Jinx’s Shimmer abilities, can be seen in an instant, and you’ll miss it, just milliseconds before the bomb goes off.

In one of the last few scenes of the best Netflix shows, Caitlyn is seen searching through the Kiramman family archives while fiddling with the monkey head of one of JInx’s homemade explosives. While browsing through this data, she finds the schematics of Piltover’s Hexgate tower, which Jinx and Warwick fell before the former detonated her bomb. Caitlyn zooms in on the air duct and cooling system portion of the blueprint and smiles. It’s clear that Caitlyn was searching the archives to find the tower designs to find out if Jinx could have survived. Based on her grin, it’s clear that she believes Vi’s younger sibling did that.
The last two pieces of evidence arrive Arcane final scene of season 2. The most obvious is the Jinx-style title card “The End” that flashes on the screen before the credits appear, indicating that Jinx’s story is not over. But more importantly, the final shot of the series shows an airship flying into an unknown region of Runeterra. Why is this important? In ArcaneThe very first episode of Jinx, then known as Powder, sees an airship and says “One day I’m going to ride one of those things”. Considering that the airship in the final episode of Season 2 is identical to the one Powder sees in the animated series premiere, it doesn’t take a genius to deduce that Jinx is piloting the airship in the first episode of the animated series . Armed with these clues, I asked Linke if he could confirm if Jinx was still alive, and if she was the person piloting the airship. As I said, Linke didn’t give me a definitive answer Arcane‘s co-showrunner chose to speak about Jinx’s redemption-based character arc that was teased in the final Season 2 trailer. However, his body language practically confirmed that Zaun’s self-proclaimed “big, fat hero” is not only still alive, but there also managed to break the cycle of violence she was stuck in and run away (or rather, fly) to start an adventure. new life.
“I can neither confirm nor deny (the Jinx is alive),” Linke replied coyly. “I will say this: Her whole story is about going from the bumbling little sister to someone who is able to take responsibility and do what a big sister has to do.
“Isha is really that role model for Jinx. She (Jinx) starts to understand what it’s like to be responsible, and to be able to grow and be stronger. Even in that scene (involving Vi, Jinx and Warwick) there’s something VI is unable to sacrifice the ones she loves and leave them behind. Jinx has a moment where she has grown and is able to intervene, and it is a big decision that is important to her. So I guess that’s where I it will leave.”
Even if Jinx is still hanging around, it’s unlikely we’ll see her again. Arcane‘s second and final season concludes Jinx and Vi’s story, as well as Piltover and Zaun’s. That despite the rumors that Arcane would also run for five seasons – with Linke and fellow creator Alex Yee telling me this was “never the plan” for Arcane to last so long.
