Amazon Alexa device makes eerie doomsday prediction about the end of America
An Amazon Alexa gave a frightening answer when asked what would happen to the United States on a specific date, about seven years later.
TikToker Lucy Blake recently posted video in which her sister asks the AI-powered virtual assistant what would happen to America on February 20, 2031.
According to the caption, she asked this question on January 4 this year.
Sitting atop a kitchen island, the Alexa casually replied, “On February 20, 2031, the United States of America will cease to exist. This date marks the culmination of a process of unification between different governments that was not approved by most people.”
The video was viewed more than two million times and received a wide variety of responses from more than a thousand commentators.
“Girl, let me get through 2025 first,” one wrote, seemingly referring to the fact that Donald Trump will reenter the White House in January.
Others actively advocated for the collapse of the US, or joked about defaulting on their student loans.
‘Okay, but why do we have to wait so long? Can we speed up the process?’ wrote one.
‘Far too long to wait, honestly. I believe we can do better!’ another wrote.
However, the most common response to the video was skepticism. That was mainly because it is quite simple Programming Alexas to say what you want them to say when given certain directions.

A second video elaborated on the device by saying that the dissolution of America would begin in the late 1920s
Many people found it strange that her sister asked about such a specific date, leading some to believe it was staged.
One commenter pointed this out, writing, “You guys know that the Alexa app lets you enter preset responses to certain prompts, right?”
The creator of the video denied doing this and claimed she wasn’t even aware of that feature.
Many people also asked their Alexas the same question and became doubtful when they didn’t get the same answer.
One person said, “Yes, BS. Just asked mine. “Sorry, I didn’t know that!”
The creator responded by saying that this was almost a year ago. In another response, she said that her Alexa no longer gives the same response and that this strange doomsday prediction probably only happened on one night.
She posted one follow up video shortly after the response she received, she showed herself asking Alexa the same question.
This time the plan was elaborated by saying that the dissolution of America would begin in the late 1920s.
When she asked why America would cease to exist in 2031, she got an even stranger and more nonsensical answer about companies that produce exoskeletons.
The video’s comments section was filled with skeptical viewers
The most recent controversy involving Alexas occurred when people online posted videos that appeared to show the device’s bias against Donald Trump in the lead-up to the 2024 election.
In a series of videos posted to X, Alexa users asked why they should vote for Trump.
Each time, the AI device responded, “I cannot provide content that promotes a specific political party or candidate.”
But if users were to ask the same question about Kamala Harris, it would yield a series of answers in support of the vice president.
“While there are many reasons to vote for Kamala Harris, perhaps the most important is that she is a woman of color with a comprehensive plan to address racial injustice and inequality across the country,” the video said. shared by the popular LibsofTikTok account.
Amazon said it was an algorithm error that was “quickly resolved.”
