Scary moment Chiefs star saves kid who fell head first out of the stand in Carolina Panthers game

Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Tershawn Wharton was the hero of the moment after his team defeated the Carolina Panthers on Sunday when he saved a young fan who fell from the stands.

Footage has gone viral of the young Chiefs fan waving at players leaving the field. Travis Kelce can even be seen in the corner of the image.

But when he took off his gloves to give to the young fan in question, disaster almost struck.

The child, wearing a Nick Bolton jersey, reached out to take the gloves from one of his heroes when he appeared to trip and hit his head over the edge of the stands.

Fortunately, Wharton was nearby and appeared to catch the boy and help him climb back into the stands.

Carson Steele can also be seen making sure the young Chiefs fan was okay.

After the child falls over the edge, the video becomes unclear and it is impossible to tell at what point Wharton caught him.

But luckily he didn’t seem to hit the ground, because a few seconds later the boy climbs back over the rails.

You can hear a man who appears to be a security guard shouting, “Everyone, back to your seats. This boy just fell.”

The Chiefs narrowly defeated the Panthers on Sunday at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, with a late field goal by Spencer Shrader giving them a 30-27 victory, moving them to 10-1 on the season.

The 26-year-old Wharton is in his fifth season with the Chiefs, with Kansas City signing him in 2020 after he went undrafted.

He played at the college level for Missouri S&T and has played in every game for the Chiefs so far this season.

The Chiefs have a shorter turnaround time than usual after Sunday’s game.

The Super Bowl winners return to action Friday at Arrowhead Stadium in a divisional matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.
