Wife of KIIS FM’s newest star reveals the very creepy way he pursued her: ‘Rang my doorbell at 2am’
These days, couples generally meet through dating apps like Tinder or Hinge.
But for former NRL star and radio broadcaster Corey Oates, it was a year of ghosting and a near arrest that led him to meet his current wife, Tegan Miles.
Tegan revealed on Tuesday the very creepy way Corey, 30, stalked her to his new radio co-host Robin Bailey.
The former Broncos player officially joined the Robin and Kip KIIS 97.3 FM breakfast team for 2025, and to welcome him on board, hosts Robin and Kip Wightman brought his family to visit this weekend.
Robin asked Corey’s wife of 10 years and mother of their two young children how their romance began – and was totally shocked by her answer.
Tegan told how she first met then 19-year-old Corey in the yoghurt aisle at Ashgrove Woolworths and the pair got chatting.

‘H“I talked so much I had to put my yogurt back on the shelf and get a new one,” she recalls.
‘He played football, but he was still very young. He would have been nineteen, so very young.
The pair had gotten to know each other until Corey learned through a friend that Tegan’s father was former Broncos legend Gene Miles and promptly stopped talking to her.
“I didn’t hear from him again after he worked that out for about 12 months. I think he heard it from someone. And then suddenly he stopped talking and I thought, “I didn’t know what was happening.”
“And then, yeah, when he came back twelve months later…” Tegan continued.
Robin interrupted her to ask for clarification. “So, what do you mean when he came back?” When you met him again?’
“He started ringing my doorbell at 2am one morning,” she revealed.
‘Called me eight times. Sent me a message from six [times]sent me two Snapchats. And it wasn’t until I opened a Snapchat that he knew I was clearly on my phone, and then started yelling at my window.”
“Was he drunk?” Robin asked.
“He was definitely on his way home from a night out,” she confirmed.

Robin asked if Tegan hadn’t heard from Corey at all in the last 12 months, before he brazenly shouted at her window under the cover of darkness and alcohol.
“Every now and then we would talk, but it wouldn’t last more than maybe two or three days,” she explained. ‘He would run away again. He would get too scared.”
“Did you let him in?” Robin asked.
“I did that because I thought, ‘Somebody’s going to call the police on this guy,'” Tegan explained.
The petite blonde remembered thinking, “This guy is going to get a public nuisance notice soon.”
Tegan said she wasn’t willing to “waste” her time on Corey if he didn’t “commit to something.”
She gave him a use-by date of March 31. Five days later he called her and told her, “Okay, we’ll give this a try.”
“Those were his exact words,” she added.
Tegan’s father Gene asked her just one question about her Broncos wing friend: “Is he a good guy?”
She said Corey was and her dad told her, “Okay, he has one chance.”
“And we’ve been together for almost ten years now,” she concluded.
Corey has been a regular on the Brisbane radio show since October, starring in his own light-hearted “Find Corey a Job” segment.
His surprise career move comes after the popular football star announced he was retiring from the NRL in October after 216 games.
ARN’s owners announced that the football champions will remain on air for the rest of the year as part of the regular breakfast team, with the trio returning in 2025.
In the meantime, the show has been renamed ‘Robin & Kip now with Corey Oates in the morning’.
Oate’s “work experience” in recent weeks, which he shared with listeners on the breakfast show’s “Find Corey a Job” segment, has included trying out gigs as an air traffic controller, real estate agent, consultant and retail sales assistant.
The football favorite isn’t the only high-profile NRL player to recently land a job at KIIS FM.
Former Sea Eagles champion Cooper Johns, 24, announced he would be joining the station as part of The Kyle and Jackie O Show for 2024.
