Mike Tirico reveals he suffered a major injury during NBC’s ‘Sunday Night Football’ broadcast
Mike Tirico called the Philadelphia Eagles’ win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football less than a week after tearing his Achilles.
Tirico revealed the injury during the broadcast and contracted the ailment when he missed a step at his home last Monday.
Fellow NBC commentator Cris Collinsworth joked about his injury live with Tirico, with the broadcast showing a unique camera angle aimed at the 57-year-old’s left leg to keep him seated.
Tirico said he won’t take a break from game calling because of the injury.
‘Once you tear your Achilles tendon you’re in immediate pain and then it’s difficult to get around for a while. Our group was great and tried to make the booth as comfortable as possible,” Tirico said on the broadcast.
Oddly enough, the injury was brought up by Collinsworth after NBC aired a promo for a medical drama.

Tirico was later seen using a knee scooter after leaving the cabin and as he headed to the elevator.
Tirico’s next assignment is on Thanksgiving Day from Green Bay, as the Packers host the Miami Dolphins in the holiday nightcap.
The Eagles dominated the match, winning 37-20, making it an easy first trip to the booth for Tirico after suffering the injury.
Tirico was in a good mood throughout the broadcast.
