Dramatic drone footage shows moment deputies shoot man in tense 12-hour standoff

The final moments of a deadly confrontation between police and a New York man who drove head-on into a patrol car were captured on dramatic drone footage.

Steuben County police were called to a home on Angel Road in Cameron last month for a welfare check, where they encountered an armed 50-year-old Allen Hoad who allegedly fired a shotgun at responding officers before retreating to his home. The Evening Homage reported.

Hoad fled his home with what appeared to be a long gun after a 12-hour siege of the property – moments before the bullet-ridden incident began.

In shocking drone footage released by New York Attorney General Letitia James, Hoad’s pickup truck was captured backing head-on into a parked police car, causing officers to run out of the way before it was hit and fire their weapons in response .

Two dogs, along with Hoad, can then be seen jumping out of the driver’s side door as several officers ordered him to stop moving with their weapons still drawn – one of the bullets ultimately struck the runaway during the ordeal.

The footage showed Hoad falling to the ground in the tall grass along the side of the roadway just seconds after getting out of his vehicle. Officers approached him before checking his condition and calling for medical attention.

He received immediate medical treatment by a sheriff’s office paramedic before being transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The deadly siege came after Hoad made numerous terrorist threats to carry out a mass casualty incident and leave his home armed with weapons — a plan the sheriff’s office said was intended to kill people.
