ITV is in demand during takeover talks

ITV shares will be in the spotlight when the stock market reopens today following reports that it has become a takeover target.

The stock is down more than 10 percent this month – and candidates may want to take advantage of the low valuation.

The company, which is home to shows including Coronation Street and whose production arm ITV Studios is behind Disney+ hit Rivals with David Tennant, is valued at £2.5 billion.

Private equity giant CVC Capital Partners is exploring a deal for ITV with a European broadcaster.

That could lead to CVC taking over ITV Studios, with the broadcaster taking over the rest of ITV, Sky News reported.

Russ Mould, investment director at AJ Bell, said ITV shares could have ‘a bit of a run’ following reports of a takeover.
