Inside the drastic cosmetic surgery procedures Ozempic users are getting to counter extreme weight loss

Plastic surgeons take drastic measures to ensure that people who have lost a lot of weight after using Ozempic and other weight-loss medications look good again.

Facial fat transfer procedures are more popular than ever because women have quickly lost so much weight in their faces, leaving them with an ‘Ozempic face’.

Chicago facial plastic surgeon Dr. Benjamin Caughlin has even developed the FaceBBL, a treatment that removes fat from one part of the face and transfers it to another.

Dr. Caughlin said it’s “extremely similar to the Brazilian Butt Lift, where they take fat from the abdomen and put it in the buttocks to create a big bulge.”

The Face BBL isn’t the only procedure plastic surgeons are opting for after younger patients lose large amounts of weight — now they’re getting everything from body sculpting procedures to skin removal.

Boston-based facial plastic surgeon Dr. Akshay Sanan said his younger patients who undergo weight loss shots are given facial fillers

Dr. Caughlin explained that when he performs a FaceBB, he takes fat from one part of the face and adds it to another part to create peaks and valleys.

However, if someone doesn’t have enough fat in their face, they can pull it from their hips, stomach, or buttocks – anywhere there is extra fat.

“The result is a more sculpted and shaped face,” said Dr. Caughlin. “It’s about getting the volume in one place and increasing the volume in another.”

‘The development of this technique was influenced by the demand for less filler and the impact of medications such as Ozempic on facial fat,’ advised Dr. Caughlin.

“Facial fat transfer has taken off again as Ozempic has gained popularity and people are rapidly losing weight on their faces,” Dr. Caughlin to FEMAIL.

Boston facial plastic surgeon Dr. Akshay Sanan said his younger patients undergoing weight loss shots use facial fillers, while older patients who have lost more than 20 pounds seek alternatives.

Dr. Sanan said he has often seen patients between the ages of 48 and 55 undergo a facelift and neck lift and undergo facial fat transfer at the same time.

‘Losing more than 20 pounds and age-related looseness of the skin cannot be replaced by gel fillers alone. There is just too much skin and it needs to be treated with a facelift and neck lift,” said Dr. Sanan.

For some patients, facial fat transfer

For some patients, facial fat transfer “can provide long-term results if weight loss is stable and can be much more cost-effective than fillers,” according to Dr. Rukmini Rednam.

Dr. Sanan, who trained at Stanford, has found that many of his Generation to turn back.’

Dr.’s younger patients Sanan who use Ozempic sometimes receive a brow lift and eyelid surgery in combination with facial fat transfer to help them maintain a youthful appearance, as well as lasers and non-surgical skin tightening of their jawline and neck skin.

Dr. Prem Tripathi has 'definitely seen an increase in fat transfer'

Dr. Prem Tripathi has ‘definitely seen an increase in fat transfer’

Dr. Prem Tripathi in Beverly Hills, California, said he has “definitely seen an increase in fat transfer, biostimulator use and procedures after using Ozempic, as facial fat is notoriously easy to lose with rapid weight loss.”

Dr. Tripathi has seen patients receive body sculpting procedures to strengthen muscles, radiofrequency microneedling throughout the body to tighten their skin, and Sculptra, an injectable that stimulates collagen in both the glutes and the face.

For some patients, facial fat transfer “can provide long-term results if weight loss is stable and can be much more cost-effective than fillers,” according to Dr. Rukmini Rednam.

Dr. Rednam, based in Houston, Texas, has also seen patients receive “major skin removal procedures, which in the past were primarily for bariatric procedures.”
