Perth boy Joshua Schuetz fighting for life after horror accident in Bali

A promising Futsal star is fighting for his life in a Bali hospital after being involved in a horrific quad bike accident.

Joshua Schuetz, 8, from Perth was on holiday with his family ahead of a football tournament he was due to participate in this weekend.

The family were on a quad biking trip when Joshua suffered serious injuries in the ‘most unimaginable accident’ on Wednesday.

He was a passenger on a bicycle driven by his older brother when it overturned.

Joshua became trapped under the bicycle and had to be freed by his brother.

He suffered a skull fracture and a brain hemorrhage and is still in a coma in intensive care.

His parents had to pay $20,000 on the spot before Joshua could be transferred to an intensive care unit at another hospital to be treated by a neurosurgeon.

Family friend Bernice Ariasa has a fundraising for the family to cover medical costs in Bali and help finance a Medivac flight to fly Joshua home.

“They had to post another $10,000 bond for a blood transfusion,” she wrote.

“So far the bill is $60,000, but he is there in the hospital (every) hour.

‘(Joshua) has undergone surgery and the costs are unknown, his condition is stable but in a coma.

A team of Australian doctors and nurses are on their way to transport Joshua to Perth Children’s Hospital.

More than $65,000 has been raised.

‘Hundreds of prayers are about our sweet, funny, full of life Joshy. We just want him to be safe and healed,” the page ended.

Cockburn Wolves Futsal Club shared a post on social media calling on their community to come together in support of one of their ‘beloved little champions who underwent neurosurgery in Bali.’

“The Wolves are an inclusive club and we call on all our members, regardless of faith background, to pray for healing and hold space in your hearts for Joshy Schuetz and his family,” a Facebook post said.
