Home on Chelsea’s famed Oakley Street – where David Bowie and Oscar Wilide lived – for sale for £10m
>
A six-bedroom property on the prestigious street that once housed Oscar Wilde, David Bowie, George Best and Bob Marley has been put on the market with a price tag of £10 million.
The terraced house is located on the famous Oakley Street – one of the most desirable locations in Chelsea.
Reggae legend Bob Marley moved into the house next door in 1977 after an attempt on his life in Jamaica – the same year he released his album Exodus, which remained at the UK album awards for 56 consecutive weeks.
Acclaimed Irish playwright Wilde lived at number 87 with his mother Jane, while David Bowie lived at neighboring number 89 in 1973.
Bowie lived on the iconic street for at least a few years and eventually the house was sold to footballer George Best, who lived there until his death in 2005.
It’s no surprise then to learn that the current house on the market has had only three owners in its lifetime – despite being built in 1870.

Oakley Street begins just off Kings Road in Chelsea and runs all the way to the River Thames.
The road was also home to traitor Donald Maclean, a British diplomat who spy for the Soviet Union, the 1911 suffragettes, pianist Angus Morrison, and much of the street was once Winchester House – the residence for the Bishops of Winchester.
