Full spoilers ahead ahead Arcane season 2.
Arcane The final three episodes of season 2 are just days away from airing on Netflix. And while my excitement level is already at a fever pitch for Season 2’s final act, the arrival of a new teaser makes me wish it was November 23, so I’m watching them again and again.
Released at the end of episode 2 of Afterglowaka Arcane‘s official aftershow, the 45-second trailer is packed with melodrama, loads of action and the potential return of two popular characters who died in Arcane season 2, act 2. Before I get into these teases any further, stop what you’re doing and watch the sneak peek of act 3 in the video below (skip to the 10:27 mark for the footage).
As you have seen, there is one lot shown in the teaser. To start, a voiceover – I assume it’s Jayce speaking – says “a storm is coming… the likes of which Piltover has never seen.” As if that wasn’t disturbing enough, Jayce’s voiceover is accompanied by footage of Ambessa leading her Noxian forces into battle. Oh, and some of them are enhanced by luster, the addictive substance created by Singed that grants superhuman abilities to anyone who consumes it. Piltover’s enforcers are no match for Noxus’ extremely well-trained foot soldiers, let alone those whose physical abilities are enhanced by shimmer.
That’s just the beginning of the problems people like Vi and Caitlyn will face. The next clip shows the pair in Piltover’s underground council chamber – the same room we saw Arcane the first episode of season 2, act 1, along with two other familiar faces. The first of these is Mel, who escaped the clutches of the Black Rose in episode 5 and has somehow found her way back to the so-called City of Progress.
Even more surprising is that Jayce is the other person who draws up a plan of action together with the trio. I don’t need to remind you that he was responsible for the murder of his former scientific partner and best friend Viktor (more on him in a moment) in episode 6 – one of many events that seemed to send Jayce down a very dark path . in season 2. Viktor’s death set off a cataclysmic chain of events in the final chapter of act 2, so I’m intrigued to see why Jayce has not only been welcomed back into the fold, but also seems to have been cured of the magic-based “refined spell disease” from which he suffers.
As for Viktor, Caitlyn asks Jayce if Viktor is “at the center of it all,” leading to an ominous, fast-paced montage in which Singed appears to bring two favorite characters back from the dead. The following shots from the teaser suggest that Singed will combine Viktor’s Hextech-powered body with Warwick’s sparkle-infused corpse to create a truly terrifying enemy that may be unstoppable.
Remember: During their tense conversation in episode 6, Singed told Viktor that by combining Warwick’s regenerative blood, aka Apex Shimmer, with Viktor’s Hextech-enhanced body, Singed could stabilize Viktor and give him infinite powers, which would be known as Apex Hextech. Until his death, Viktor’s powers were believed to be limited, but he refused to sacrifice Vander/Warwick’s humanity to better himself. So it looks like Singed will get his wish Arcane‘s love-to-hate alchemist who puts them together to create what he considers the ultimate life form.

It also seems to work, as one of Viktor’s deceased disciples is brought back to life moments later in the teaser. Reading between the lines (or rather, quick cuts between the trailer’s clips), I believe that Singed will transfuse Vander/Warwick’s blood into Viktor, transforming Viktor into the cybernetically enhanced individual that League of Legends (Lol) players will immediately recognize from Riot’s hugely popular video game franchise. That might be why behind Singed and Ambessa there’s a glittering capsule – one connected to pipes. This is the manufactured cocoon in which they placed Viktor to undergo his transformation.
As we see towards the end of the teaser, it appears that Viktor’s consciousness may be trying to fight back – the brief flash of him being tethered to a tube-like mainframe suggests he could be foiling Singed and Ambessa’s plan from within. Whatever happens, it seems that Viktor’s story is one of many aspects Lol lore being rewritten by Arcane.
All of this comes before we even get a glimpse of Jinx. No doubt succumbing to her inner demons after Isha’s death in episode 6, we only catch a few flashes of Vi’s younger sister – Jinx’s reflection, seen in a broken glass and then standing in a building as she sees it around her burn.
However, it is certain that she will be convinced to participate in the battle against Ambessa and Singed. Indeed, we hear Vi say to her towards the end of the teaser: “If you come, use all that explosive potential for good, maybe we can rewrite your story”. There’s also a shot just seconds before that line is spoken as well, which shows a blue and pink colored airship, likely flown by Jinx, in the sky above Ambessa before it shouts “fire!” shouts. There’s another very brief shot of Jinx’s aerial vehicle using its five-gun cannon to bombard Ambessa’s forces just before the trailer ends. So expect Jinx to come to Piltover’s rescue and help turn the tide of the conflict.
There’s more interesting footage in the teaser, including a confrontation between Ambessa and Caitlyn and Vi punishing Caitlyn for joining forces with Ambessa earlier this season. This is just the tip of the iceberg for what’s to come in the final episodic trio of one of Netflix’s best shows, whose total running time will be approximately two hours. Indeed, we need to know where Ekko and Heimerdinger are, whether the Black Rose is the main villain of the hit series after all, and whether “CaitVi” will get a happy ending after they finally kiss in Season 2 Episode 3. Suffice it to say: bittersweet as they will be, I can’t wait to see how Arcane‘The second and final season concludes the overarching story of the series. Don’t make a mess, everyone!
