How to get Kicks in Fortnite and why they’re now disabled

Kicks Are Fortnite‘s shoe version, first introduced in November 2024.

The cosmetic option lets you change your fit with original designs created by developer Epic Games, or a branded shoe like Nike’s Air Jordan 1s. However, I don’t know everyone Fortnite skin will be immediately compatible with Kicks.

Additionally, unlocking and using Kicks in Fortnite can be a bit confusing, as they’re technically in the game and were supposed to release along with the November 14 v32.10 update until they were delayed – so read on to find out why Kicks are disabledand how to get more Kicks when they fully roll out.

What are kicks in Fortnite?

Kicks are cosmetic in nature and serve as shoes for your character Fortniteallowing you to change your character’s shoes (or cover their bare feet).

Epic Games has stated that over 500 of the most popular ones are Fortnite outfits can use Kicks at launch, and more than 95% of outfits will be compatible by spring 2025.

How to get kicks in Fortnite

Kicks in Fortnite can be obtained in two ways: the Battle Pass and the Item store. Kicks will function the same way as others Fortnite cosmetics that require you to reach a certain Battle Pass level, complete Battle Pass missions, or purchase them with V-Bucks from the Item Shop.

Like others Fortnite cosmetics, you might be able to get some Kicks in the future Fortnite events and quests, or even by becoming a Fortnite Crew member.

The first pair of Kicks added to the game is the “Air Jordan 1 High OG ‘Black Toe Reimagined’” which will be available to players as part of the Fortnite Remix Season on November 14, 2024.

Why is equipping Kicks disabled in Fortnite?

Currently, Kicks cannot be equipped Fortnite because of a visual issue. Epic Games is currently working on a fix and will provide an update on when Kicks will be enabled and released.

Once enabled, to equip your Kicks, go to your Locker in the main menu and select the ‘Character’ tab. Interact with the shoe symbol to find all your new Kicks.

As mentioned, not every character is currently compatible with Kicks. As time goes on, Epic Games will adjust more skins to be compatible.

When Kicks arrive, you can check if your favorite skin can equip them by going to your outfits and clicking the ‘Sort Filter’ button. Find and apply the ‘Kicks usable’ filter to see which skins can use Kicks.
