Dallas Cowboys’ CeeDee Lamb added to injury report ahead of must-win game against in-state rivals

Dallas Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb was added to the injury report with an old issue, putting his status in jeopardy at an inopportune time for Mike McCarthy’s 3-6 team.

According to the Cowboys head coach, Lamb aggravated his back during 7-on-7 drills. He is now listed as questionable for Monday night’s game against Houston Texas at AT&T Stadium.

It’s yet another setback for a Cowboys team already plagued by season-altering injuries.

Lamb is the team’s leading receiver and currently ranks seventh in the league in receiving yards with 681. He also has four touchdown catches to his name.

Just this year, Lamb signed a four-year, $136 million extension that will keep him in Dallas until 2028.

Most of that contract has been offset — meaning Lamb only had an $8.75 million cap hit this season before jumping to a $35.45 million cap hit next season.

This comes after QB Dak Prescott was ruled out for the season after suffering a hamstring injury

This comes after QB Dak Prescott was ruled out for the season after suffering a hamstring injury

The Cowboys were by far the team’s most reliable offensive weapon and were likely hoping he would be healthy and available even as their quarterback situation deteriorated around them.

Starting quarterback Dak Prescott recently underwent season-ending surgery after injuring his hamstring in a loss to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9.

Just a few days ago, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones confirmed that Prescott was undergoing a procedure to repair his hamstring, which would sideline him for the rest of the season.

Currently, the only quarterbacks available to the Cowboys are Cooper Rush, Trey Lance and practice squad quarterback Will Grier – a fifth-year veteran who has spent most of his career as a backup.

Earlier this week there were fears that Rush might be out due to a neck injury. But while he remains on the injured list, he is not listed as playing status.

The Cowboys currently have 19 players on the injured list – accounting for more than a third of Dallas’ active roster.

At 3-6, the Cowboys season might as well be considered over as they have a long hill to climb to try and reach the playoffs without their starting quarterback.

Nevertheless, they will hope to try and get back to winning ways after dropping their last four games in a row. Dallas plays local rival Houston Texans this week on Monday Night Football.
