Woman breaks down as she’s offered $250K on Shark Tank for eight-hour-a-day ‘side hustle’
A woman who works 50 hours a week was left in tears during the latest episode of Shark Tank when investor Robert Herjavec offered her $250,000 for a stake in her “side hustle.”
Ashley Sankar, who works ten to twelve hours a day at her day job and then works six to eight hours at night to improve her “side hustle,” appeared on the ABC show with husband and business partner Zach, throwing their clothes . startup, NineteenTwenty.
However, their big TV moment, which aired on Friday, wasn’t without its ups and downs, as another ‘Shark’ Mark Cuban quickly poked holes in their finances.
‘The numbers are wrong! One of the biggest challenges is fully understanding accounting and managing your cash flow,” he said.
When push came to shove, it was Kevin O’Leary and Robert Herjavec who made an offer to Ashley and Zach, as the latter promised them $250,000 for a 25 percent stake in NineteenTwenty.

And while Ashley tried to negotiate and offer him a 20 percent share, Robert, 62, refused before breaking down in tears and admitting: “I wish my mom could see this.”
As Lori Greiner quickly jumped out of her chair to give Ashley a hug, Zach explained that his wife’s mother passed away when she was just eight years old.
As Ashley sobbed, Zach told the investors, “Ashley and I, we were high school sweethearts and we literally climbed to where we are today together. We started in retail, we moved into corporate roles, we ended up being sloppy, and so to be here is honestly just a dream.”
The camera then cut back to Robert, who was clearly emotional as he tried to compose himself, before telling the couple: ‘I didn’t have much growing up, but I had a mother who believed in me no matter what.
‘And that made me believe in myself when no one else in the world ever did, that’s why I’m here. And you have that belief and you have an incredible partner, you are a great team, and you can build on that confidence and sit in this chair one day.”
“Why are we arguing about five percent?” he then asked, as Ashley blurted out, “We’re not!”
Robert repeated his offer, telling them, “Let’s build something great,” as they quickly responded, “We’ll take it!” which led to him jumping out of his chair to give Ashley a big hug.
NineteenTwenty sells garments including puffer coats, windbreakers and skirts that convert into functional items such as tote bags, pillows and blankets.

The couple started selling clothes in December 2022 and raked in $269,000 in annual revenue last year, Zach told investors earlier in the show.
He and Ashley also explained how they sold out every quarterly batch of clothing they ordered from their manufacturer, and how they would have made more money if they had been able to afford larger inventory purchases.
According to GCU NewsZach spoke about their Shark Tank success five months after the episode was filmed, saying, “It’s pretty surreal. It is a secret that we have been hiding from many of our customers for a long time.
‘We’re happy that they could see what we’ve been working on over the past year. We have seen an influx of sales, twice as many as the number of (website) sessions.
“We’ll see 110 percent of our customers are brand new. That’s always good to see, because we have a very viral footprint, but it’s also nice to meet new customers who don’t know our product yet.’
