An interview that Cheryl, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh recorded with Ben Shephard on October 8 has been released on ITVX ahead of the expected concert film.
“The music industry is so young that when you’re that young and shrouded in ageism, you think we could never do that at that age,” Nicola explains.
“A lot of my friends have been inspired by us,” Kimberley added, while Cheryl pointed out “how lucky we are still able to do that, 22 years later.”
Cheryl, mum to son Bear, seven, admitted that ‘we got a bit cooler’ with their children when they joined them on tour.
However, the main motivation for the reunion tour was to “fulfill Sarah’s dream,” the band explained during the interview, following the death of their beloved bandmate from breast cancer three years ago.
“We were really conscious the whole time that it wasn’t too sad, because she wasn’t a sad character, she was the most bubbly of all of us,” Cheryl said.
“We wanted to keep her spirit there and represent her and have her with us throughout the show, but not in a sad way. The situation is sad enough.”
The girls also discussed what’s next for the reunited band. Cheryl insisted that while “we catch our breath, one thing I have learned in my infinite wisdom, at my ripe old age, is that you really can never say never.”
“I don’t think we could see ourselves doing this tour,” Nicola added. “At one point we didn’t think we could see ourselves doing this.”

In addition to the release of their concert film on Sunday, Girls Aloud are also back in the charts this week with the official single Children In Need.
Fans were left in tears as they listened to their new emotional song, which featured Sarah’s lead vocals, on Wednesday.
Twenty years after Girls Aloud released I’ll Stand By You for BBC Children In Need, the iconic band are set to release a brand new version of the song, with their beloved Sarah exclusively on lead vocals.
When they first heard the song on Zoe Ball’s breakfast show on Radio 2, fans rushed to X and Instagram to say they couldn’t stop ‘sobbing’ while listening.
‘I just listened and cried a bit, for some reason hearing this version affected me even more now than seeing it on tour! Such a beautiful tribute to Sarah.’

Sarah’s vocals were discovered in Girls Aloud’s vault while the band were collecting archive material for their sold-out The Girls Aloud Show arena tour earlier this year.
