Michael Strahan admits ‘I’m not proud’ as he finally explains controversial national anthem gaffe

Michael Strahan admits he is ‘not proud’ of his angry exchange with a DailyMail.com reporter on Tuesday after finally explaining his controversial anthem act.

Strahan, who sparked outrage by not placing his hand over his heart during the national anthem last weekend, lashed out at the reporter Tuesday afternoon when asked for comment on the situation.

“Everyone, it’s Michael here, and I want to address what happened last weekend,” the Fox Sports NFL analyst said in a video message on Instagram on Tuesday evening.

“I feel like I have to do something about it because it’s gotten to the point where today I get out of my car and I’m ambushed here at my home by a media outlet.

“I’m not proud of the way I handled that situation, but I think everyone out there can understand what you’re going to do. You’re going to protect your family and your home, which I felt was necessary at that moment.”

Strahan then revealed the story behind his anthem blunder, admitting that he simply “got caught up in the moment” before realizing his mistake.
